Sr Refrigeration Technician

**Position Summary**:
The Senior Refrigeration Technician in a hospital setting is a key role responsible for overseeing, managing, and performing advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of refrigeration systems critical to the hospital's operations. This position requires extensive knowledge and experience in refrigeration technologies, compliance with safety standards, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Refrigeration Systems Maintenance**:

- Lead and perform advanced maintenance tasks on a variety of refrigeration systems, including medical-grade refrigerators, freezers, cold rooms, and HVAC-related refrigeration equipment.
- Implement preventive maintenance schedules to ensure the reliability of critical refrigeration units.

**Troubleshooting and Diagnostics**:

- Diagnose and resolve complex issues in refrigeration systems, including compressor failures, temperature fluctuations, and refrigerant leaks.
- Collaborate with other technicians and engineering teams to address interrelated equipment problems.

**Energy Efficiency and Optimization**:

- Implement energy-efficient practices to optimize the performance of refrigeration systems.
- Propose and assist in the implementation of energy-saving initiatives without compromising the integrity of stored medical supplies.

**Compliance and Documentation**:

- Ensure compliance with refrigeration safety standards, environmental regulations, and hospital policies.
- Maintain accurate records of refrigeration maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.

**Project Management**:

- Manage and participate in refrigeration-related projects, such as equipment upgrades, replacements, and installations.
- Coordinate with other departments and contractors to ensure successful project execution.

**Emergency Response**:

- Respond promptly to refrigeration emergencies, equipment failures, and temperature alarms.
- Collaborate with the emergency response team to minimize the impact on stored medical supplies and maintain a stable environment.

**Training and Mentorship**:

- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior refrigeration technicians.
- Conduct training sessions to enhance the team's skills in refrigeration technologies.

**Cross-functional Collaboration**:

- Collaborate with other departments, including pharmacy, laboratory, and facilities management, to address cross-functional refrigeration issues.
- Coordinate with medical staff to understand specific refrigeration needs for medical supplies.

**Safety Protocols**:

- Enforce safety protocols for refrigeration equipment handling and maintenance.
- Participate in safety training programs and contribute to the development of safety guidelines.

**Continuous Learning**:

- Stay updated on advancements in refrigeration technologies, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Attend training sessions and conferences to enhance knowledge and skills.

**Qualifications and Requirements**:

- ITI or trade certification in Refrigeration or a related field.
- Extensive experience as a refrigeration technician, preferably in a healthcare or laboratory setting.
- In-depth knowledge of refrigeration systems, components, and controls.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Leadership qualities with the ability to guide and mentor a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Availability for on-call duty and response to emergencies.
