Pc-d2m-247 - Floating Unit Integrity Engineer

d2m Services is currently seeking an experienced Floating Unit Integrity Engineer to join a major oil and gas operator in Qatar.
Based in Doha, this strategic position involves regular offshore rotations on FSOs and Single Point Moorings (SPMs), as well as frequent visits to contractor sites, such as shipyards and engineering offices.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Technical Engineering Expertise**:

- Lead and manage the Life Extension Studies of ageing FSOs, from scope definition and contractor selection to execution and final delivery of engineering outputs.
- Act as technical focal point for all matters relating to naval architecture, including damage assessment, stability calculations, hull integrity, and topside structural integrity.
- Review and validate fatigue life assessments, FEA (finite element analysis) results, corrosion analyses, and structural evaluations provided by external contractors or classification societies.
- Coordinate with Engineering Consultants and other stakeholders to maintain a comprehensive Asset Integrity Register and ensure alignment with Safety-Critical Element (SCE) performance standards.

**Inspection, Repair & Maintenance**:

- Develop and supervise structural inspection campaigns on FSOs and SPMs (cargo tanks, ballast tanks, hull structures, risers, mooring lines).
- Interpret inspection results to define repair workscopes and prioritise remedial actions based on corrosion tolerance, fatigue exposure, and risk ranking.
- Prepare and review work packs, job hazard analyses (JHA), and execution procedures for offshore structural repairs and modifications.

**Hydrodynamics & Mooring Systems Support**:

- Provide technical support in mooring failures, buoy damage, drift incidents, or unplanned integrity threats.
- Participate in or review station-keeping analyses, hydrodynamic loading assessments, and anchor line integrity reviews.
- Evaluate the impact of environmental loading on hull and mooring components.

**Tendering & Contract Management**:

- Draft technical scopes of work for offshore inspections, topside upgrades, hull refurbishments, or engineering studies.
- Participate in Call For Tender (CFT) processes: review technical proposals, attend clarification meetings, and support selection decisions.
- Follow up on contractor performance, execution planning, and compliance with contract specifications.

**HSE & Regulatory Assurance**:

- Actively contribute to HSE risk assessments, safe systems of work, and integrity-related safety studies (HAZID, HAZOP, SIMOPS).
- Ensure compliance with international marine codes and classification rules (IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL, BV/Lloyd’s/ABS).
- Liaise with Classification Societies and Flag Authorities to ensure statutory and class certification is maintained for floating units.

**Requirements**:
**Education**:

- Master’s degree in Naval Architecture, Offshore Engineering, or Marine Structures.

**Experience**:

- Minimum 10 years in the offshore oil & gas sector, with at least 5 years of direct experience with FSOs/FPSOs, floating systems, or ship-to-ship/offloading operations.

**Key Skills**:

- Strong knowledge of marine classification rules and offshore floating systems (hull, mooring, topsides).
- Proven ability in fatigue analysis, structural assessments, and hull integrity diagnostics.
- Familiarity with asset integrity management tools (e.g. RBI, CMMS, IDMS).
- Solid understanding of cross-disciplinary engineering documentation: piping, instrumentation, electrical, safety systems.
- Fluent in technical English; strong communication and reporting skills.
