**Job Purpose**:
The Demi Chef plays a key role in food preparation and execution in the kitchen. The role is responsible for assisting the Sous Chef and Head Chef in maintaining the quality, taste, and presentation of dishes while ensuring kitchen standards are met. The Demi Chef is expected to be proficient in cooking techniques and work independently in specific sections of the kitchen.
**Qualifications and Experience**:
- Diploma or certification in culinary arts or equivalent qualification from a recognized culinary institute.
- 2+ years of experience in a professional kitchen, preferably in a similar role (Commis Chef or Demi Chef).
- Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of dishes as per the kitchen's high standards and recipes.
- Prepare ingredients and maintain cleanliness and organization in your assigned section (e.g., grill, sauté, pastry, etc.).
- Ensure all dishes are presented in an appealing and consistent manner.
- Follow and execute daily kitchen tasks as assigned by the Sous Chef or Head Chef.
- Maintain a high level of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness in accordance with food safety standards.
- Participate in mise-en-place preparation and ensure timely availability of ingredients and tools for efficient kitchen operations.
- Monitor the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure consistency and compliance with kitchen standards.
- Assist in portion control and waste minimization.
- Ensure proper storage of ingredients to maintain freshness and quality.
- Assist in developing new recipes or updating existing ones, under the guidance of senior chefs.
- Provide feedback and suggestions to improve the taste, presentation, or efficiency of dishes.
- Stay updated on menu changes and kitchen policies.
- Adhere to all safety and sanitation procedures in the kitchen.
- Follow proper procedures for handling kitchen equipment and utensils.
- Report any kitchen accidents or hazards to the Sous Chef or Head Chef immediately.
