Scientific Researcher

**Role Purpose**:
To conduct research activities and educational interventions in injury prevention that utilise Aspetar’s infrastructure to contribute to the sport and exercise knowledge base. Serves the Hospital’s aim of assisting athletes to achieve their maximal potential through improved performance and injury prevention.

**Key Accountabilities & Activities**:

- Develop, conduct and submit research studies for peer reviewed publication in the area of injury and illness prevention.
- Responsible for appropriate data collection data safety and data reporting with research partners and sports clubs/federations
- Assume any other responsibilities as directed by the Director of ASPREV and/or the Director of Research and Scientific Support within the scope of research scientist.
- Provide professional services to coaches and support staff and sporting administrators to enhance athlete’s health and improve injury prevention strategies.
- Interpret and report study results, counsel and advise coaches and support staff on sport-related issues to enhance and implement injury and illness prevention strategies
- Develop professional skills and knowledge, in line with existing and new services, through continuing education and training programmes. Participate in professional development programmes including talks, workshops, seminars, educational and research projects
- Serve as a resource person for specialised skills in their area of expertise, providing support, consultation and counselling to all levels of staff.
- Assume any other responsibilities as directed by the direct supervisor. Attend and successfully complete competencies which focus on patient safety initiatives implemented within Aspetar Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Hospital. Patient Safety Training is an annual requirement, to include all organizational leaders, staff, service and contracted providers.

**Key Generic Accountabilities**:
**Necessary knowledge and Experience to be able to do the job**:

- 6-8 years of research experience of which a minimum of 2-3 years should be in a similar position / responsibility, and preferably in a similar Industry.

Skills and Abilities:

- Relevant professional and research experience.

**Education and Certification requirements**:

- Master’s degree in Sports Science / Human Movement / Biological Sciences / Physical Education / Kinesiology.
- PhD preferred with evidence of experience and publications in the field of injury and illness prevention/epidemiology/clinimetrics
