**PRIMARY**purpose**:
Ensure analytical integrity of testing and analysis activities, and perform special projects as directed by the Manager Laboratory in support of Operations at Ras Laffan gas production plant and facilities.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Perform a variety of laboratory activities in accordance with established testing methods and instructions, take the lead in tests and analysis requiring appreciable technical experience and perform all special projects related to process troubleshooting as directed by Head of Laboratory.
- Receive work schedules and instructions from the Manager Laboratory and ensure that Lab Analysts carry out the work according to specific instructions, applicable work methods and procedures, and in compliance with QHSE standards as well as directing laboratory flow of work to ensure that all tests are performed as scheduled
- Ensure the analytical integrity of all tests performed in the Laboratory through conducting periodic reviews of analyst procedural adherence, process sampling techniques and reviewing calculations for all solution preparation
- Perform and record results of routine Quality Control samples against test methods/instrumentation and determines compliance using statistical analysis.
- Ensure that results are entered into Laboratory Information Management System and reported in a timely manner.
- Review and authorise sample results during day shifts and review all data generated by night shift reporting all abnormal results to Shift Controllers during the day.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and apparatus in a proper condition, and report damage or malfunction to Manager Laboratory for necessary action.
- Review all calibration data and maintain oversight of all instrument troubleshooting performing routine maintenance of instrumentation as directed by the Manager Laboratory.
- Prepare morning report to keep Manager Laboratory informed of all significant events or concerns as they relate to Laboratory activities as well as performing all interaction with inter-company departments and/or external organizations in the absence of the Manager Laboratory.
**QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE**:
**Educational Requirements / Qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
- Relevant Certification in the use of special laboratory apparatus and instruments such as gas chromatography, spectrophotometers, infra-red analyzers, auto flash tester and other instruments and apparatus would be a great advantage
**Minimum Experience**:
- 5 years’ relevant experience in applied laboratory activities in Oil & Gas including at least 3 years in positions of progressively increasing supervisory responsibilities in a gas production and processing plant.
**Skills and Competencies**:
- Good understanding on a laboratory quality management.
- Solid knowledge on laboratory analysis methodologies and best practices.
- Analytical, interpretative and constructive thinking, with high degree of evaluative judgement
- Strong problem solving skills.
