Key Accountabilities:
The Curator will develop and deliver high quality content for exhibitions & related activities in line with the Museum’s vision and history. They will participate in research, development, and display of the Collection, permanent and temporary, publications & interpretation, and all related activities of the department. This key position supports the museum’s curatorial and program strategy in response to Mathaf’s mission and goals.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Work with the Museum Collection, artists, partners, and colleagues to research and develop highly inventive and relevant exhibitions and programs.
- Initiate, organize and author programs from initial idea to completion, including Collection and special exhibitions, commissions and productions, publications, talks, screenings, broadcast material, digital or online work and investigations of displays and archives.
- Responsible for development and delivery of exhibitions and programs, scheduling, and logistics in coordination with
- other staff; oversee a timely delivery of exhibitions.
- Provide content for departmental projects related to exhibitions and events, overseeing proper reproduction of images
- and copyrights. Keep an updated account of all exhibition and artistic program plans.
- Work with colleagues in the Collections, Exhibitions, Education, and Research departments to share curatorial content and updates.
- Develop, coordinate, edit and oversee writing for exhibition and publication related materials (hard copies and digital).
- Preparation and delivery of high-quality presentations to various audiences (e.g. lectures, gallery talks for sponsors, patrons, visitors)
- Responsible for interpretation; support translation and editing of interpretive materials (Arabic/English).
- Conduct original research and writing on Collection artists/artworks as agreed in the Collections development strategy for exhibitions, projects, talks, etc.; includes research and propose artists and artworks for acquisition.

Qualifications/Requirements:
Necessary knowledge to be able to do the job.
- Substantial experience in research associated with the creation and development of exhibitions.
- Experience with publication and critical writing in Modern and Contemporary Art
- Research skills and evidence of writing and publications
- Excellent writing and communication skills (English & Arabic) other languages suitable
- Proof of independent research, publications and articles with respected journals and institutions
- Proof of academic papers presented at international conferences
- Proof of exhibition development and delivery as sole curator
- Proof of academic papers presented at international conference

Education, Experience, and certification requirements
- MA or PhD in Museum or Heritage Studies, Archaeology or Ancient History, Art History or Classics, Natural Sciences, Anthropology, Art Education, Museum Gallery Practices.
- 10-12 years of experience.
