Job Title**:Pharmacist**
**Job Summary**:
The pharmacist will be responsible for the preparation, dispensation, and counseling of prescription medications to patients. They will also provide clinical services, including reviewing prescriptions, advising on dosage, side effects, drug interactions, and managing patient care in collaboration with healthcare teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- **Dispense Medications**: Accurately prepare and dispense prescribed medications in accordance with the laws, regulations, and standards.
- **Patient Counseling**: Provide patients with information on how to use prescribed medications, explain potential side effects, drug interactions, and safety measures.
- **Prescription Review**: Ensure that prescriptions are valid and appropriate, checking for dosage errors, drug interactions, and contraindications.
- **Monitor Patient Health**: Assess patients’ medication therapies, recommend adjustments, and provide advice on the safe use of over-the-counter medications.
- **Collaboration with Healthcare Providers**: Work closely with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers to optimize patient treatment plans and ensure the effective use of pharmaceuticals.
- **Inventory Management**: Manage pharmaceutical inventory, ensure proper storage, and keep track of drug expiration dates and stock levels.
- **Regulatory Compliance**: Ensure adherence to all federal and state regulations, including controlled substance laws, and maintain proper documentation.
- **Compounding**: Prepare customized medications as required, based on specific prescriptions and patient needs.
- **Patient Records Management**: Maintain and update accurate patient medication records, including allergies, health conditions, and medication history.
- **Education**: Provide patient education on general health practices, over-the-counter medications, and disease management.
Skills & Qualifications:
- **Education**: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited pharmacy school.
- **Licensing**: Current state licensure as a pharmacist, including passing the required pharmacy board exams.
- **Experience**: Prior experience in a retail, hospital, or clinical pharmacy setting (preferred but not required).
- **Skills**: Strong communication skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- **Knowledge**: In-depth knowledge of pharmaceuticals, drug interactions, and medical terminology.
- **Technology**: Familiarity with pharmacy management software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Working Conditions:
- Typically employed in **retail pharmacies**, **hospitals**, **clinics**, or **pharmaceutical industries**.
- May require working **evenings, weekends**, or **holidays** depending on the setting.
- **Physical Requirements**: Ability to stand for long periods and lift moderate weights.
