Job Title: Safety Engineer (Electromechanical) - Consultant Office

Location: Doha

Department: HSE / MEP Coordination

Reports to: Safety Engineer / HSE Manager

Job Summary:
The Safety Engineer (Electromechanical) in a consultant office is responsible for ensuring that all MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) designs and construction practices comply with safety codes, local regulations, and international standards. This role involves reviewing designs, conducting risk assessments, advising on safety standards, and coordinating with design and site teams to ensure safety is integrated at every stage of the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:
Review electromechanical designs (HVAC, electrical, fire fighting, plumbing, etc.) for compliance with safety codes (e.g., NFPA, NEC, OSHA, local codes).

Conduct hazard and risk assessments on proposed systems and construction methodologies.

Participate in design review meetings to highlight potential safety issues and recommend improvements.

Advise design teams on fire protection systems, emergency lighting, ventilation, grounding systems, and other life-safety elements.

Ensure that the MEP systems align with fire safety, explosion prevention, and electrical hazard mitigation requirements.

Liaise with client representatives, authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ), and site supervision teams to ensure safety concerns are addressed.

Prepare technical safety reports, risk mitigation plans, and safety compliance documentation.

Support tendering and bid evaluation from a safety perspective.

Keep up-to-date with changes in safety regulations and integrate new practices into designs.

Perform occasional site visits to ensure the implementation of safety recommendations.

**Requirements**:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Additional HSE certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, IOSH) preferred.

Experience: Minimum 5 years in MEP safety engineering, preferably in a consultant or design office environment.

**Skills**:Strong knowledge of electromechanical systems and their associated hazards.

Familiar with international safety codes and standards (NFPA, IEC, IEEE, etc.).

Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and safety analysis tools.

Excellent communication and report writing skills.

Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working on large-scale commercial or infrastructure projects.

Membership in professional engineering or safety bodies (e.g., NFPA, ASHRAE, IET).
