Sr. Planning Engineer

**Job Summary**:
Sr Planning eng will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules across multiple complex engineering and construction projects from inception to close-out. This role requires exceptional expertise in critical path methodology, risk analysis, resource management, and effective communication with clients and multi-disciplinary teams to ensure project success.

**Key Responsibilities**:
Strategic Planning & Scheduling:

- Develop, maintain, and update comprehensive project schedules (using Primavera P6, MS Project) for various engineering and construction projects, ensuring alignment with project objectives and contractual requirements.
- Establish project baselines, critical paths, and milestones, and identify potential risks and opportunities.
- Integrate multi-disciplinary project schedules (civil, structural, MEP, architectural) into a master project plan.

Performance Monitoring & Control:

- Monitor project progress against baselines, identify deviations, and analyze variances.
- Prepare detailed progress reports, look-ahead schedules, and S-curves for internal and external stakeholders, including clients.
- Implement earned value management (EVM) techniques to track performance.
- Develop recovery plans and propose mitigation strategies for schedule delays or cost overruns.

Resource Management & Optimization:

- Plan and optimize resource allocation (manpower, equipment, materials) to ensure efficient utilization and adherence to the schedule.
- Identify resource constraints and propose solutions to maintain project flow.

Risk & Claims Analysis:

- Conduct schedule risk analysis and evaluate potential impacts of unforeseen events.
- Provide expert support in forensic schedule analysis and assist in the preparation or defense of time-related claims.

Client & Stakeholder Communication:

- Act as a key point of contact for clients and project stakeholders regarding schedule status, progress, and forecasts.
- Lead and facilitate planning review meetings with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
- Translate complex planning data into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences.

Mentorship & Quality Assurance:

- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior planning engineers and project staff.
- Ensure consistency and quality of planning deliverables across projects.
- Develop and implement best practices and standardized planning procedures within the firm.

Contractual Adherence:

- Ensure all planning activities and reports comply with contractual obligations (e.g., FIDIC, bespoke contracts).

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Construction Management, or equivalent.
- 12 years of progressive experience in project planning and scheduling, with a minimum of 7 years in a Senior Planning Engineer role within an engineering consultancy firm.
- Proven experience working on large-scale, complex construction and infrastructure projects.
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project is mandatory.
- Strong understanding of critical path method (CPM) and earned value management (EVM).
- Knowledge of project management principles (PMBOK) and industry best practices.
- BIM (Building Information Modeling) integration in planning is a plus.
