Draftsman (Cad Operator)

Primary Purpose of the Job - To carry out all the drafting works in the facility development section as per the requirements of Projects Section staff and in accordance with QP Procedures. - To keep custody of Infrastructure and Building facilities drawing for all QP project within the jurisdictional area of the department. Job Dimensions Principal Accountabilities - To carryout drafting and document review and retrieval duties as directed by the Section staff such as assisting in evaluating progress claims, assisting in the preparation of tender drawings and tender documents, etc. - To review and check hard and soft copy of 'Approved For Construction' (AFC) drawings and 'As Built' Drawings submitted by the Contractor by verifying with the site measurements and ensure conformance to QP Engineering Standard for Drafting (ESD-10) prior to issuance of Approved For Construction' (AFC) and 'As Built' drawings and stamp the drawings with the respective QP 'AFC' and 'As Built' Stamps as advised by the Engineers. - Prepare sketches and drawings showing changes made to the original drawings by preparing new drawings or mark alternations in the existing drawings including the mother prints. - Compilation and record keeping of project AFC and "As-Built" drawings in soft and hard copy for all completed projects within the Departmental jurisdictional - arcas. - Draws out specifications and recommend suitable materials and suggests method of construction to the Supervisor. - Takes photocopy or arranges for printing drawings from the original, from the centralized printing room and pass the drawings to the Division's staff as required. 7. Prepare Area Statement for all new facilities constructed as part of new projects undertaken by the Division as required by the Engineers and Estimator. - Prepare design concept drawings for new project proposals as required by respective Engineers of the Division in accordance with ESD/10 Standard. - Review of Project Dossiers submitted by Contractors as part of new projects undertaken by the Division. - Keep custody of Engineering Reference Books, Desk jet drawing printers, laminators, measuring equipment for facility development section and be accustomed with the latest developments in materials for building finishes and construction methods. Decision Making Authority - Maintain various register for drawings, printers and instruments etc. Prepare Purchase Requisitions for drawing equipment and other minor instruments. - Has regular contacts with employees within the Department and other Departments when taking measurements and arranging printing of drawings. Occasional contacts with contractors when dealing with review of drawings submitted by them. - The duties involve considerable standing/walking and occasional climbing and when taking measurement and investing. Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Experience - Completion of Higher Secondary Education followed by a relative Diploma in CAD drafting with knowledge of surveying and good drafting skills. - Excellent computer skills in engineering design software, Auto CAD and 3D Max. - Very good command of spoken and written English. - Knowledge of ISO 9001:2000 and any QMS is desirable. - Minimum 5 years experience in drafting, construction and surveying works. Must have - general experience in Mechanical, HVAC, Electrical services drawings.
