**Role Purpose**:
This role involves providing expert assessment, treatment, proactive performance focused therapy and rehabilitation services tailored to the needs of world-class competitive athletes.
Working under the guidance of the Manager of Performance Medicine and alongside an interdisciplinary team, the physiotherapist, will help drive the vision of fostering athletic excellence, injury prevention, and rapid recovery through evidence-based care. Plays a central role in optimizing athletes’ health, recovery, and performance. The role bridges clinical therapy expertise with performance-based interventions to enhance physical conditioning, neuromuscular efficiency, and return-to-play readiness. The position requires clinical expertise combined with a commitment to supporting the long-term success and well-being of athletes.
**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES**:
- Conduct thorough clinical assessments, diagnose sports-related injuries, and design individualized treatment and rehabilitation plans that align with athletes’ performance goals.
- Monitor athletes’ progress closely and adjust treatment protocols as needed to ensure safe and timely return to training and competition.
- Design and deliver performance optimization programs combining world leading therapeutic, coaching and performance support approaches.
- Implement individualized conditioning programs complementing sport-specific demands.
- Provide on-field therapy and emergency care during training and competitions.
- Conduct gym-based assessments and interventions to monitor and enhance physical capacity working alongside coaching and performance support staff.
- Collaboration & Working Relationships:
- Work collaboratively with other coaching, performance support and healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive interdisciplinary performance optimization.
- Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive multidisciplinary care.
- Act as a key liaison between athletes, coaching staff, and the medical team to facilitate clear communication regarding injury status, rehabilitation progress, and training modifications.
- Foster a supportive and proactive environment that encourages athlete and coach engagement and adherence to treatment and performance plans.
- Coordination & Program Development:
- Coordinate physiotherapy services within the assigned event group, ensuring seamless scheduling and prioritization of urgent cases.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of injury prevention programs, performance enhancement initiatives, and rehabilitation protocols tailored to the specific demands of athletics.
- Reporting & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation for all athlete interactions, treatments, and outcomes in compliance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare regular reports on athlete health status, injury trends, rehabilitation outcomes, and program effectiveness to support data-driven decision-making.
- Provide feedback and recommendations to line manager.
- Professional Development & Growth:
- Engage in continuous professional development through attending workshops, conferences, and training sessions relevant to sports physiotherapy and athlete care.
- Stay abreast of the latest research, technologies, and best practices in sports medicine to enhance clinical skills and service quality.
- Contribute to capacity-building efforts within Aspetar.
- Assume or accept any other responsibilities as assigned by the direct supervisor within the position role and responsibility.
- Patient Safety: -Attend and successfully complete competencies which focus on patient safety initiatives implemented within Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital. Patient Safety Training is an annual requirement, to include all organizational leaders, staff, service, and contracted providers.
**Necessary knowledge and Experience to be able to do the job**:
- Minimum of 6 to 8 years of professional related experience, including 2 to 3 years in a similar role or responsibility, preferably within the same industry.
- Preferable additional certifications in Strength & Conditioning, Performance Therapy, or related fields.
- Proven experience working within a multidisciplinary sports medicine team.
- Proven experience working within an interdisciplinary performance team.
- Strong knowledge of musculoskeletal injuries common in Track & Field Athletics and appropriate rehabilitation protocols.
- Strong, broad kinesiology, anatomy, medical and performance knowledge.
- Proficiency in diagnostic tools and therapeutic modalities relevant to sports therapy.
**Education and Certification requirements**:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Physiotherapy.
- Advanced certification or specialization in Sports Physiotherapy is highly preferred.
- Must meet and fulfil the eligibility criteria for medical licensing in Qatar
