Teacher Assistant

Under the supervision of the Teacher and the Manager, the Teacher Assistant will assist the teacher in the care of children from the age of 3 months to 4 years old. The Teacher assistant will maintain a professional attitude at all times and will act as a team member at Little Academy.

**Key Duties**:
Key duties include but are not limited to the below:

- Carries out mission, vision, and values established by the management.
- Supervises health and safety need of children inside the building and in the playground.
- Assist the teacher to implement the daily lesson plan.
- Keep classroom neat and orderly.
- Responsible for securing health, safety, hygiene and overall well-being of children **at all times.**:

- Responsible to report any symptoms of child abuse, neglect, abnormal behavior or injuries to Teacher and Management. **NEVER DISCUSS ANY ISSUE WITH PARENT.**:

- Maintains confidentiality of records and information of staff and families.
- Reports sick children to the teacher and to the school nurse.
- Maintaining daily logs of child diaper and sleep check records. Hand in records to the Manager on Thursday of every week.
- Support Teacher to implement short and long term goals in the classroom.
- Report concern of parents about their child to the Teacher and Manager. **Never discuss any matter related to the child with the parent.**:

- Inform Teacher of supplies needed in the classroom.
- Cleaning of tables and chairs, placing chairs on the side close to the wall, opening a window and turning off all lights and air conditioning at the end of every day.
- Changing diapers and placing soiled ones in a sealed plastic bag in the garbage.
- Wear gloves when changing a soiled diaper. Gloves must be thrown in the garbage after each diaper change; you must wear a new pair of gloves when you change a different child.
- Help children to wash and dry after toileting.
- Disinfecting changing mats after every use.
- Prepare bottles and assist children in their snack and lunch time.
- Label children’s food, clothes, supplies etc.
- Responsible for classroom cleanliness.
- Make sure child goes home clean.
- Handling the children with utmost care.
- Hold the child by **the Hand not the arm.**:

- Use only English in the nursery
- Putting the children to sleep at nap time.
- Disinfecting the sleeping mats after nap time DAILY.
- Ensuring safety of children when going up and down the stairs.
- Washing children hands before and after meals as well as after toileting, and if and when needed.
- Place all toys that are suitable for cleaning into a basket every Thursday afternoon. Keep the basket inside the class until the designated assistant takes them to be cleaned.
- Serve as a substitute teacher when asked to.
- No mobile phones are allowed in the classroom.
- May perform other duties as assigned by the management.
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times.
- Use positive reinforcement, **Never Yell, Never Bribe a child with Chocolates or Candies.**:

- Use teaching skills through English vocabulary when dealing with children.
- Perform any other duties as instructed by management or owners

**Experience and Qualifications**:

- Child care related experience
- Fluent in English
- Valid QID for Transfer, Work Permit or Job Secondment
