Project Engineer

**Job Purpose**
Plan, execute, monitor and coordinate all Mechanical engineering procurement, installation and commissioning support activities associated with the assigned construction projects across company in liaison with project management team Review mechanical scope of assigned projects ensuring the architecture and configuration of new system will meet project specifications and requirements and will add value for a wide range of mechanical equipment (static, rotating, piping etc.) in the various plants/sites while acting as the first level of focal point from company for assigned mechanical engineering aspects for the contractors/consultants and monitoring the work conducted in order to facilitate successful completion of projects as per defined parameters, industry best practices and contractual agreements.

**Key Accountabilities**

Budgets and Plans
- Upon review of the overall project plans in collaboration with Head of Construction - Project and Project Management, prepare the work packages and cost estimation of the construction works, submit for Head of Construction - Project and management approval, issue the relevant CWR to the contractors. Issue the work permits for the specific services to be executed by contractors for the assigned line of work and in adherence with defined procedures and project priorities.
- Monitor the financial performance of a given area of activity versus budgets so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and rectified promptly, and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalized upon.
- Ensure effective execution of assigned Mechanical construction project activities in line with the plans and approved budgets in accord with defined HSEQ and quality standards.
- Identify material/equipment required for the assigned project activities in the Mechanical area for all company locations and coordinate for the timely availability of all requirements.
- Issue the required materials from warehouse. Ensure that it comply with the project specifications and company standards. Return the unused /extra materials to warehouses
- Review estimates of labor, materials, tools, and external services required for assigned project work and coordinate preparations with Contracts section safety and project management personnel. Raise necessary documentation to initiate contract negotiations for ongoing manpower requirements or hire agreements for equipment in line with requirements.

Project Management
- Act as a first level technical specialist for all matters related to mechanical systems across assigned construction projects, ensuring timely provision of efficient and reliable services to support achievement of project deliverables
- Participate in the commissioning and acceptance testing of newly installed systems
- Supervise, coordinate, and provide initial approval of the activities of contractor or consultants on all Mechanical construction related activities (procurement, installation and pre commissioning) ensuring effective liaison with the project team and Team Leader for all day to day matters to facilitate timely and accurate execution of all project phases as per defined timelines and specifications.
- Ensure projects’ Mechanical construction activities are executed according to specification, within budget, with the contract scope of work and meets time schedules while highlighting any non-conformances to project engineers, sponsors, and Head of Construction - Project for timely action.
- Support in efficient and cost-effective delivery of mechanical services for assigned projects, ensure the implementation of safe, timely and cost-effective solutions (hardware, software, management tools and components) to meet business requirements.
- Review and resolve contractor queries and provide technical guidance and expertise such that project goals are clearly understood and to minimize delays. Review and approve all related technical documents as per defined levels of authority and established protocols.
