Role Overview
Our client is undergoing a significant and exciting integration of traditional meter reading with Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and Smart Metering Operations Center (SMOC). The AMI Operations department plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth functioning of smart metering infrastructure and the accurate and timely collection of data. We are seeking a highly motivated and adaptable AMI PMO Specialist – Meter Recording to join our team and provide crucial support during this transition and beyond. The AMI PMO Specialist – Meter Recording will be a leader with a unique blend of experience and vision. This role is responsible for leading a diverse team of supervisors, meter readers, and AMI specialists, driving a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Primary Job Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Team Leadership and Management: Provide strong leadership and direction to the integrated team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Mentor and coach team members, including experienced supervisors and meter readers transitioning to new technologies.
- Organizational Development: Lead the restructuring of the combined unit, including defining new team structures, identifying training needs, and facilitating the professional development of all team members.
- Process Optimization: Review and optimize existing meter reading processes and AMI/SMOC operations to identify synergies, improve efficiency, and enhance data accuracy.
- Site Team Scheduling, Dispatch and Assignment Management: Develop and manage efficient scheduling and dispatch process of field teams involved in Meter Reading, operations and investigations. Optimize routes and resource allocation of Meter Recording personnel, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost-effectiveness to maximize productivity and minimize operational costs.
- Technology Implementation and Adoption: Oversee the effective utilization of AMI systems, data analytics platforms, and SMOC functionalities within Meter Recording. Drive the adoption of new technologies and best practices.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor the performance of the Meter Recording Team, analyze trends, and provide regular reports to senior management.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with other departments, including IT, Engineering, Customer Service, and Finance, to ensure alignment and support for metering operations.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the unit, identifying opportunities for process enhancements, technology upgrades, and skill development.
Qualification And Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Engineering, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management and site supervision within the utility industry.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing periodic maintenance strategies, leading and managing field teams, including scheduling, dispatch, performance management, and overseeing periodic maintenance programs.
- Familiarity with AMI systems, smart meters, communication networks, and data management processes.
- Understanding of business processes within a utility, such as meter-to-cash, customer service, and billing.
- Experience with or exposure to BCRM systems (knowledge of JDE and/or C2M is a plus).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues and identify root causes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences and vice versa.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
