Senior Computer Aided Design Technician

Qualification:

  • Diploma in Engineering Technology (any discipline)
  • Trade certification in a relevant discipline (ITI)
  • Certification and/or demonstrated proficiency with 2D drawing development in AutoCAD, MicroStation, Smart Sketch or similar.
  • Exposure to drawing development and production from a 3D model is desirable
  • 5-7 years relevant work experience, 2 of those in leading one or more draftsman in a project environment

Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes and adheres to the project CAD standards.
  • Plan and deliver all drawings required for the Submission and handover of a particular project.
  • Well-versed in drafting requirements and design standards.
  • Prepare accurate engineering CAD drawings from sketches or markups. Produce field sketches as required.
  • Contribute to the development of departmental/project procedures for drawing management, change control, revision control, checking, naming, and storing of electronic & hardcopy drawings.
  • Apply these practices in your own work and ensure that they are applied by others.
  • Interpret and ensure the application of project specific drawing development conventions.
  • Carry out the drafting of complex electrical, instrumentation and mechanical services.
  • Liaise with relevant team members to clarify ambiguities in drawings.
  • Work with different drawing/model formats.
  • Perform Self checks of own work and the work of others to guarantee accuracy and minimize reworks.
  • Make plot files, configure, and operate the plotter, plot, and trim drawings.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and/or Project meetings, technical reviews, safety reviews if required.
  • Enhance technical drafting Knowledge and inter-personal skills.
  • Assume other reasonable duties as may be required by the company from time to time.

  • Candidates should be present in Qatar with a valid QID
