The Supervisor (Shipwright Department) will be responsible for overseeing all shipwright activities, including repair, maintenance, and construction work on marine vessels and structures. The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and hands-on experience in marine operations. The Supervisor will ensure that all shipwright and carpentry work is executed according to specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations while coordinating effectively with teams and management.

Job Role & Responsibilities:

  • Supervise day-to-day shipwright operations including fitting, structural repair, and carpentry works on vessels.
  • Plan and allocate tasks to the shipwright team to ensure project schedules are met.
  • Monitor progress, inspect completed work, and ensure compliance with marine and shipyard standards.
  • Provide technical guidance to workers on repair methods, tools, and equipment usage.
  • Coordinate with engineers, foremen, and project managers to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Ensure all materials and tools are available for daily operations.
  • Conduct inspections of hull structures, decks, and fittings to assess repair requirements.
  • Ensure all work adheres to company safety and environmental (HSE) guidelines.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians and shipwright workers to maintain skill levels and safety compliance.

Requirements

  • Education: Diploma / Degree in Mechanical, Marine, or Shipbuilding Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Experience: Minimum 6 years of experience in shipwright, marine, or shipyard operations, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Must have strong knowledge of marine vessel structures, ship repair methods, and shipyard procedures.
  • Gulf or overseas marine experience preferred.

Required Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of shipwright and marine repair techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in maintenance planning, task allocation, and reporting.
  • Sound understanding of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards in marine operations.
  • Capable of working under pressure and meeting project deadlines.
  • Basic computer knowledge (MS Office, report preparation).
  • English communication required; Arabic is an advantage.
