Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled, experienced, and safety-focused Heavy Vehicle Driver to operate and maintain large vehicles such as trucks, trailers, mixers, and buses. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of heavy equipment, bulk materials, or passengers, ensuring strict compliance with all Qatari traffic and safety regulations. A strong sense of responsibility and excellent driving skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities

1. Driving and Operational Duties:

Safely operate heavy vehicles (e.g., Trucks, Trailers, Concrete Mixers, Tippers, Buses) in various conditions, including urban areas, highways, and off-road construction sites.

Transport goods, machinery, construction materials (like sand, gravel, asphalt), or passengers as assigned.

Plan routes effectively, considering load size, vehicle dimensions, and road restrictions to ensure on-time delivery.

Properly load and unload cargo, ensuring it is securely fastened and distributed according to safety standards. May involve operating auxiliary equipment like cranes or forklifts (if licensed).

Perform pre- and post-trip inspections as per company and legal checklists.

1. Vehicle Maintenance & Safety:

Conduct thorough daily inspections of the vehicle, including brakes, tires, lights, fluids, and all safety systems.

Perform basic maintenance tasks (e.g., topping up fluids, greasing components) and report any mechanical faults or defects immediately.

Ensure the vehicle is kept clean and in perfect working order.

Schedule and oversee regular professional servicing and mandatory annual inspections.

1. Safety, Compliance, and Documentation:

Strictly adhere to all Qatar traffic laws, including those specific to heavy vehicles (speed limits, banned routes, time restrictions).

Maintain a valid Qatari Heavy Vehicle Driving License and ensure all vehicle documents (Mulkiya, insurance, permits) are valid and present in the vehicle.

Comply with all company and site-specific safety protocols, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Complete and submit all necessary paperwork accurately, including logbooks, delivery notes, fuel receipts, and incident reports.

1. Professionalism:

Represent the company professionally in all interactions with clients, site personnel, and the public.

Maintain a clean driving record and a high level of personal integrity.

Be physically fit and able to handle the demands of the job, including long driving hours and assisting with loading/unloading.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education: Secondary school education or equivalent. A vocational training certificate in driving is a significant advantage.

Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience as a Heavy Vehicle Driver, preferably within the GCC or Qatar. Experience in the specific industry (e.g., construction logistics) is highly desirable.

License: A mandatory, valid Qatari Heavy Vehicle Driving License. The specific class (e.g., for bus, truck, trailer) will depend on the vehicle type.

Knowledge:

In-depth knowledge of Qatar's road network, including restrictions for heavy vehicles.

Expert knowledge of road safety regulations and defensive driving techniques for large vehicles.

Understanding of vehicle mechanics to identify and report issues.

Skills:

Excellent driving skills with the ability to maneuver large vehicles in tight spaces.

Physical strength and stamina.

Punctuality, reliability, and a strong sense of responsibility.

Basic English communication skills (to understand instructions, road signs, and paperwork). Knowledge of Arabic, Hindi, or Urdu is beneficial.

Ability to work independently and under pressure.
