KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES:

Duties:

  • Act independently to plan, implement, evaluate, treat and progress patient care to maximise rehabilitation potential efficiently and independently.
  • Participate in physiotherapy in-service and as requested lead team in-service training proficiently.
  • Produce and present projects to promote service development and / or personal development. Develop knowledge, skills and evaluation processes inpatient groups.
  • Develop an area of specialization in sports physiotherapy with involvement in teaching and mentorship in this field.
  • Responsible for management and development of Physiotherapists as requested. Demonstrates leadership at staff professional development activities (case reviews, workshops, courses and in-services). 
  • Undertake a mentally and physically demanding job, whilst at the same time taking care to safeguard their own health and safety as well as colleagues and patients.
  • Utilization of research skills and participation in research projects proficiently as requested. Be a champion in the department for current practices and new initiatives.
  • Communicate to department leaders' matters concerning current and potential operations. Will assume the role of Lead Clinical Physiotherapist in their absence to maintain continuity of service delivery.
  • Supervise clinical workload and provide day-to-day management of Staff Physiotherapists, to maximise efficiency and achieve desired quality of care.
  • Utilizes a variety of assessment and treatment techniques and skills expertly.
  • Participate in, and if necessary, undertake, the departmental personal development and performance review system to promote personal and service developments.
  • Participate in clinical audit to support the Physiotherapy Service Clinical Governance Strategy.
  • Assist in the teaching of nursing, medical, other multidisciplinary team members, educational staff and others to promote knowledge of physiotherapy management to enhance patient care.
  • Perform caseload and service management efficiently and effectively, utilizing available supports as required, within assigned scope of practice and job duties.
  • Work as part of a team to ensure effective communication and delivery of care. Has the ability to take a leadership role.
  • Contribute to evidence-based practice in the department resourcefully (ex. Participate in protocol reviews).
  • Communicate skilfully and make recommendations to all relevant disciplines of staff to maximise patient care and promote multidisciplinary team working. Implement appropriate clinical guidelines to optimise patient care.
  • Maintain patient documentation, records and accurate statistical information to reflect care provided and meet professional standards. Independent charting using Cerner 
  • Assume or accept any other responsibilities as assigned by the direct supervisor within the position role and responsibility.
  • Patient Safety-Attend and successfully complete competencies which focus on patient safety initiatives implemented within Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital. Patient Safety Training is an annual requirement, to include all organizational leaders, staff, service, and contracted providers.

Necessary knowledge and Experience to be able to do the job:

Minimum experience of 9-11 years in which 3-6 years should be in a similar position / responsibility, preferably in a similar Industry. 

Demonstrated experience and proven leadership skills through clinical mentorship, clinical specialization, supervisory experience and/or project development in a related field.

Education and Certification requirements:

PHD or master's degree in Sport Physiotherapy is desired

Bachelor's degree in physiotherapy or equivalent. 

Professional certifications in the field of work are a plus.

Fulfil all the licensing requirements. 

Job specific technical Skills

Energetic and challenged by opportunities to set up a clinical framework, systems and workflows from conception to implementation and on-going management.

An interest / personal background in competitive sports would be advantageous.

Superior interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.
