Doha, Baladīyat ad Dawḩah, Qatar Spacious Decor Full time

Company Description

  • Spacious Decor is a Design & Build firm based in Doha, Qatar, Specialist with Fit-out and Interior Design Contracting Company. We specialize in creating the perfect home environment for our clients, focusing on providing a spacious and comfortable living space. Our goal is to turn our clients' current homes into their dream homes, bringing them closer to a happier life.

Role Summary

Spacious Decor is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Engineer to oversee the structural and aesthetic integrity of our high-end fit-out projects. The successful candidate will ensure that all site activities adhere to the Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS 2014), project-specific Quality Management Systems (QMS), and ISO 9001:2015 standards.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Quality Documentation & Compliance

Develop and implement Method Statements, Inspection and Test Plans (ITP), and Quality Procedures specifically for interior fit-outs (joinery, MEP integration, flooring, and ceiling works).

Maintain the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) log, conducting root-cause analysis to prevent recurrence of technical deviations.

Ensure all materials delivered to the site comply with the approved Material Submittals and technical data sheets.

  1. Site Inspection & Technical Oversight

Conduct pre-final and final inspections for high-finish items (e.g., marble cladding, bespoke joinery, glass partitions) to ensure zero-defect handovers.

Monitor environmental conditions at the site (humidity and temperature control) to ensure the stability of timber and sensitive finishes, adhering to the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards for wood moisture content.

Coordinate with the Consultant/Client representatives for Requests for Inspection (RFI).

  1. Material Testing & Validation

Coordinate third-party testing for materials such as fire-rated coatings, adhesives, and acoustic panels to verify compliance with Civil Defence regulations in Qatar.

Verify the calibration of all measuring and testing equipment used on-site.

  1. Technical Supervision of Subcontractors

Pre-Qualification Assessment: Evaluate subcontractor technical capabilities and quality manuals before site mobilization to ensure alignment with "Spacious Decor" standards.

Workmanship Audits: Conduct regular "First-Fix" and "Mock-up" inspections for subcontractor work (e.g., HVAC ducting, electrical trunking, or cabinetry carcass installation) to identify errors before they are concealed by finishes.

Compliance Enforcement: Issue Corrective Action Reports (CAR) to subcontractors who fail to meet the approved Method Statements or safety protocols.

  1. Schedule-Quality Synchronization

Progress Monitoring: Cross-reference physical progress against the Baseline Schedule (typically managed via Primavera P6 or MS Project) to ensure that expedited timelines do not compromise curing times for adhesives, screeds, or paints.

Sequence Validation: Ensure subcontractors follow the correct logical sequence of works (e.g., ensuring MEP pressure testing is certified and closed out before the installation of acoustic ceiling tiles or dry-lining).

  1. Interface Coordination

Manage the "Interface Points" between different subcontractors (e.g., where the joinery meets the stone flooring) to ensure tolerances are maintained according to ISO 2768 (General Tolerances).

Lead weekly Quality/Progress meetings with subcontractor leads to resolve technical bottlenecks that threaten the project delivery date.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Education: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Architecture, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of 4-6 years of experience, with a heavy focus on Fit-out and Interior Design projects. Local experience in Qatar is MUST.

Technical Knowledge:

Deep understanding of QCS 2014 (Qatar Construction Specifications).

Proficiency in reading complex architectural and MEP shop drawings.

Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management principles.

Project Management Awareness: Basic understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM) and the ability to interpret Gantt charts.

Communication: Assertive communication skills required to manage third-party labor and enforce rigorous quality standards under tight deadlines.

Conflict Resolution: Proven ability to manage technical disputes between different trades on-site.

Certifications: ISO 9001 Internal Auditor certification or MMUP/UPDA registration (Grade A or B) is a significant advantage.

Technical Reference Note

The QC Engineer must ensure that all subcontractor activities are documented in the Daily Site Reports (DSR), providing a traceable "paper trail" that links quality inspections directly to the project timeline. This is essential for defending potential delay claims and ensuring accountability under Qatari contract law.
