Job Title: Chief Electrician – Offshore JackupRig Location: Offshore Qatar (North Field, Halul Island, or ContractedRigs) Employment Type: Rotational (e.g., 28 days on/28 days off) Reporting To: Rig Manager / OIM (Offshore Installation Manager)Key Responsibilities1. Electrical Systems Management·       Oversee maintenanceand troubleshooting of jackup rig electrical systems, including:o   Power generation & distribution (HV/LV switchgear, transformers, circuitbreakers)o   Drilling equipment (top drives, draw works, VFD systems)o   Jacking system controls (PLC -driven leg elevation systems)o   Emergency systems (UPS, battery banks, emergency lighting)o   HVAC & refrigeration (crew quarters, hazardous areacompliance)2. Compliance & Safety·       Ensure compliance with Qatar Energy (QE)standards, IEC/ATEX regulations, and Qatar CivilDefense (QCD) fire safety codes.·       Conduct hazardous area inspections (Zone1/Zone 2 classifications for explosive atmospheres).·       Implement Lockout -Tagout (LOTO) and Permit -to -Work(PTW) procedures.3. Team Leadership·       Supervise electricians, E&Itechnicians, and subcontractors.·       Coordinate with onshore engineeringteams for major repairs and spare parts procurement.4. Emergency Response·       Lead troubleshooting during blackouts,electrical fires, or equipment failures.·       Ensure emergency generators and UPSsystems are operational.5. Documentation & Audits·       Maintain logs for Qatar Ministry ofEnergy inspections and Class surveys (ABS/DNV).·       Report electrical incidents to QE(Qatar Energy) or Nakilat (if rig is chartered). RequirementsQualifications & CertificationsMandatory:·       Diploma/Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent trade certification).·       10+ years offshore experience (5+ as Chief Electrician on jackuprigs).·       ATEX/IECEx Certification (for hazardous area electrical work).·       COMPEX (Ex01 -Ex04) (highly preferred for Gulf region).·       Qatar -SpecificCerts:o   QP Safety Passporto   Qatar Ministry of Public Health MedicalCertificateo   BOSIET/FOET with HUET (Offshore Survival & HelicopterEscape)Preferred:·       Siemens/ABB PLC & VFD troubleshooting (critical for jacking systems).·       HV Switching Certification (if handling 6.6kV/11kV systems).·       SAP/CMMS experience (for maintenance tracking).
