Landscape Engineer

We are hiring a Landscape Engineer for a short-term project in Qatar. The candidate will oversee and inspect soft landscape and irrigation maintenance, supervise staff, coordinate with contractors, ensure compliance with project specifications, prepare reports, manage preventive maintenance plans, and provide support on contract and commercial matters. Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in agriculture or horticulture and a minimum of 7 years' experience in landscape or construction project maintenance.

Nature and Scope of Position / Responsibilities:

• Conducts routine inspection of the all soft landscape, irrigation network and related activities, Sport Facilities etc. and preparation of snags report.
• Must have knowledge in soft landscape maintenance activities such as cutting/mowing grass, turf maintenance, planting flowers, pulling weeds, trimming edges, mulching, fertilizing, pruning, tilling soil, planting, irrigation & associated equipment/material, spraying insecticides/pesticides, plants garbage removal, maintaining machines etc.
• Monitor the performance of the supervisors, technicians etc to be provided under this project and, take corrective action where appropriate, in terms of increasing the efficiency, of the workers, and quality of the workmanship etc.
• Inspect maintenance work and projects to ensure procedures and materials comply with maintenance and project specifications, contract documents and/or work instructions.
• Develop and ensure the implementation of the preventive maintenance plan.
• Plan the resolution of corrective maintenance requests/complaints.
• Coordinating with other landscape contractors to schedule work activities and track progress, take corrective action where appropriate.
• Maintain detailed project files and ensure that an updated copy of the documents such as "as built" drawings are submitted to the Archives and Mail unit at an appropriate stage during the project or on its completion.
• Prepare reports on maintenance work and projects detailing the progress, backlog, service levels, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations and discuss these with the Head of Maintenance section.
• Ensure that all the relevant facilities master data and related maintenance related information is updated in QU's asset/facilities management system in an accurate and timely manner.
• Preparation of the pre-contract documents such as Preliminary Estimating, Cost Planning Bill of Quantities, Tender Documents (for all disciplines such as Civil, MEP, Systems) ... etc.
• Provide the advice to project staff on commercial and contract matters including reviewing and drafting the contract correspondences.
• Performing the jobs related to taking off the quantities for the purpose of certifying the progress claims & variations.
• Maintain records of all maintenance tasks received through QU representative engineers, complaints, and preventive maintenance tasks.
• Prepare reports on maintenance work detailing the progress, backlog, service levels, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations and discuss these with the Head of Civil & Projects Section.
• Ensure safe use, cleanliness, and general maintenance of landscape/vehicle/equipment.
• Ensure that QU's security and safety guidelines are followed and assist the Head of Security and Safety in preparing reports for any security and/or safety incidents.
• Maintain confidentiality of information at all times.
• Perform other job duties as necessary and as directed by operations & maintenance Engineers of QU.

Experience and Education:

• Bachelor in Agriculture in any field of horticulture, agronomy, plant protection, in a recognized university or college.
• Minimum of 7 years of construction project and/or soft landscape maintenance experience in university or a construction services/maintenance organization.
• Fluency in writing, reading and speaking English language is mandatory.
• Excellency in computer skills including using MS Word and Excel, Internet browsing/searching, data transferring, making reports with good formatting ... etc.
