Job description:

Job Purpose

  • Assist and support lawyers in drafting, completing and maintaining accurate and accessible legal documentation and correspondence to facilitate the management and mitigation of legal risks and ensure compliance with QatarEnergy LNG's legal obligations and regulatory requirements.

Job Context & Major Challenge(s)

  • Required to play a key role in document and information management within the Legal department and is responsible for the organisation, storage, updating, renewal and compliant disclosure of key legal and corporate documentation for the company.
  • Major challenges include:
  • management of voluminous and complex documentation using available resources.
  • understanding of appropriate classification and handling of confidential and sensitive corporate and legal information.
  • compliant provision/disclosure of information to stakeholders on a timely basis under acute time and business pressure.
  • firm understanding of complex corporate structures, governance and organisation aspects of QatarEnergy LNG.
  • clear communication to stakeholders of the nature of documentation and information and associated legal and compliance requirements.

Key Job Accountabilities

  • Maintain and organise the relevant legal documentation , ensuring they are appropriately stored, labelled, accessible and kept up to date to support efficient legal operations.
  • Provide accurate and timely notifications on documentary requirements, including renewal dates and deadlines, notice requirements, expiry dates and other issues of legal importance to ensure legal and operational risks for the company are mitigated.
  • Maintain updated company registrations, licenses, tax cards and other essential corporate certifications and documentation to ensure compliance with the company and joint ventures operating requirements.
  • Provide support the legal work of lawyers in the department with legal research, collecting accurate ad relevant information, drafting legal documents  in a compliant, timely and effective manner to streamline and enhance the efficiency of legal processes.
  • Draft corporate and legal documentation, including officers' certificates, powers of attorney, bank forms, reports and other forms to meet corporate governance and evidentiary requirements of third parties dealing with the company or its affiliates.
  • Assist in the development and amendment of relevant policies and procedures, contributing to the continuous improvement of the legal processes and ensuring compliance with the current regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Laws "LLB" or Juris Doctor "JD" degree from a recognised law School or,
  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline and otherwise qualified as a Paralegal in a relevant jurisdiction.

Knowledge and/or Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a law firm or an in-house legal team in a multinational corporation.
  • Good understanding of corporate law and governance and joint ventures.
  • Experience interacting with government agencies, bureaucracy, and external advisors and/or consultants.
