Personal Training Manager

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Personal Trainer Manager to lead, develop, and scale our Personal Training (PT) departments within our brands. This is a leadership role responsible for the PT division, trainer performance, revenue growth, service quality, and member results.
The successful candidate will combine strong people management, commercial acumen, and technical training knowledge to build a high performing PT team while delivering exceptional member experiences and measurable business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Personal Training Department, ensuring high standards of coaching, professionalism, and service delivery
- Onboard, train, mentor, and performance manage personal trainers
- Set clear performance expectations, KPIs, and development plans for PT staff
- Drive PT revenue growth through structured sales processes, conversion improvement, and retention strategies
- Monitor PT sales performance, session utilization, client retention, and trainer productivity
- Implement and oversee PT onboarding systems, assessments, and programming standards
- Ensure trainers deliver safe, effective, and results driven training aligned with company standards
- Conduct regular trainer evaluations, coaching observations, and performance reviews
- Collaborate with Sales, Membership, and Marketing teams to promote PT services and increase uptake
- Manage PT schedules, floor coverage, and trainer allocation
- Oversee PT related reporting, forecasts, and operational planning
- Act as a role model and leader, fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and excellence
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 5 years' experience within the fitness industry, including management or senior PT leadership experience
- Proven track record of managing and developing personal trainers
- Strong understanding of PT sales funnels, consultations, conversions, and retention
- Solid technical knowledge of exercise programming, assessments, and coaching standards
- Ability to link PT performance directly to revenue, member satisfaction, and retention
- Strong leadership, communication, and people management skills
- Commercial mindset with experience working toward targets and KPIs
- Highly organized with strong operational and reporting capabilities
- Confident working in a fast paced, performance driven environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Recognized Personal Training certification (e.g. NASM, ACE, REPs, or equivalent)
- Experience working in multi site or high volume fitness facilities
- Experience implementing trainer development frameworks and education pathways
