We're Hiring:
Director, Engineering (Telecom) | Doha, Qatar

An exciting opportunity to lead the
Engineering function
of a national telecom organization in Qatar. The
Director, Engineering
will be responsible for the strategic development, design, and delivery of the company's
terrestrial, submarine, and IP/SDN transmission networks
, ensuring world-class performance, scalability, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multidisciplinary engineering teams covering
    subsea, terrestrial, and network infrastructure
    domains.

  • Oversee the
    design, implementation, and maintenance of submarine cable systems
    , including installation, testing, commissioning, and integration with terrestrial networks.

  • Define and maintain engineering standards and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.

  • Provide technical direction on
    cable landing stations (CLS)
    , system upgrades, and network capacity planning.

  • Drive adoption of modern network technologies including IP/MPLS, DWDM, SD-WAN, and SDN to enhance network capability and efficiency.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies, vendors, and partners to support network evolution and resilience.

  • Manage CAPEX/OPEX budgets, vendor performance, and project delivery within defined scope, cost, and quality targets.

  • Collaborate with
    Technical, Marine Operations, and Business Development
    teams to support strategic growth initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical, or related Engineering field.
  • Minimum 12–15 years of experience in telecom network engineering, including
    at least
    5 years in a managerial or leadership role
    .
  • Proven track record in
    submarine cable engineering
    , including design, installation, testing, and operations.
  • Strong background in Transmission Network Design (terrestrial & submarine).
  • Strong understanding of IP/MPLS, transmission, and DWDM systems.
  • Excellent leadership, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in IP, SD-WAN, and SDN network design and implementation.
