For further information about this position please apply. Position Title: Marine Operations SuperintendentDuration: Indefinite contractWork Location: QatarPosition Type: Full time on site. Job PurposeEnsure the safe, efficient and cost-effective operation of vessels and that all operational practices meet Flag State regulatory, company and customer requirements.Ensure the effective implementation of Navigation, seamanship and cargo handling policies on board. AccountabilitiesKey Accountabilities:Cargo Management and compliance: Ensure that the vessels are operated in a manner which is safe, reliable and economical and meets the highest industry standards. This shall ensure efficiency in cargo management.Drive compliance with international, Flag State, legal requirements and all company policies related to shipping operations, safety of navigation and Marine personnel at all times. The Marine OperationsSuperintendent shall also ensure complete compliance with, port / terminals requirements, oil / gas majors and ship vetting systems.Ensure that the trading certification of vessels is valid and avoid failure due to non-compliance.Act as owner’s / operator’s representative for all commercial STS and ESTS. Vetting of Vessels:Ensure that vessels in the fleet are vetted successfully by arranging timely SIRE / CDI inspections, giving prompt responses to any observations raised, initiate remedial actions and identify and mitigate gaps in policies and procedures.Manage the entry of details from the VPQ into the SIRE system as well as maintain the relevant vessels particulars data not limited to TMSA and Q88 records. Audits and Ship Inspections:Conduct ship inspections on a regular basis, as per safety management system SMS / ISM to ensure effective ship management during calls to Ras Laffan or sailing visit. In these visits, he/she shall carry out internal audits not limited to navigational, galley and cargo audits.Conduct safety / security / environmental and other SHEQ internal audits as applicable.Supervise the close-out of audits and inspections of ships in coordination with the HSSEQ / technical functions. Safety Management System:Maintain the Safety Management System (SMS) of the organization and consistently focus on improvingthe quality, efficiency of procedures and accuracy, jointly with the Fleet HSSEQ functionBrief new senior officers before they join the vessels with regards to the Safety Management System, company policies, vessel operations and specific charterers’ requirements.  Monitor Communication: Confirm owned vessels managed by third party is operated efficiently in line with Master Service agreement, Owners instructions, charterer’s instruction and TCP.Ensure that managed vessels are operated as per TCP obligations.  Voyage Planning:Supervise the voyage planning and performance process for the vessels managed by company to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and the requirements of the charterer. Help the organization to avoid performance related claims and provide support in challenging the claims in case they are raised.  As well as comply with Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan. Qualifications, Experience and Job SkillsQualifications: Degree in Nautical Science or any other related field and / or; Master Mariner Certificate of competence and all associated courses with this competence certification. Experience: 8 to 12 years’ experience including 3 years’ as Master on LNG/LPG or crude/oil carriers and favored at least 2 years’ in a head office management position of a large gas/oil shipping company Experience of working with personnel from different cultures (ship owners and ship crews)Job Specific Skills: Fully conversant with international and national statutory requirements of the Maritime industry (SOLAS, ISM, MARPOL, ISPS, SOPEP, ISOs)Training and knowledge of emergency response procedures, ship vetting, ship inspection is essentialAuditing skills- Lead ISO, ISM, ISPS auditorComputer literate- Microsoft suite of products Our role in supporting diversity and inclusion As an international workforce business, we are committed to sourcing personnel that reflects the diversity and values of our client base but also that of Orion Group.
