The majority of our students have English as a second language, and the ability to support students with language acquisition would be an advantage.


  • Ensuring relevant background information about individual children is collected, recorded and updated.
  • To arrange regular meetings with support staff to keep them informed about policies/developments/procedures.
  • To plan and organise timetables for each class so that an appropriate amount of support from the SENCO and Special Support Assistants is given, depending on the number of identified learners.
  • To inform teaching staff of policies/developments/procedures, and the needs of individual pupils.
  • Liaise with Heads of Section or those with delegated responsibilities on the progress of SEN pupils.
  • Ensure that SEN pupils have full access to the curriculum. To advise and guide staff with the implementation of differentiated resources and schemes of work in accordance with school policy.
  • Create a culture where collaborative, progressive learning is highly valued amongst staff and students, be engaging, possess excellent communication skills and have strong emotional intelligence.
  • Lead on related CPD with staff including team teaching.

Applicants:

Essential:
PGCE or B.Ed. with an inclusion background and ability to work with primary and secondary students.

Preferable: 2+ years' experience as a SENCo; experience of working in a British-curriculum school
