Wood is currently hiring for Principal CivilStructural Engineer for our projects in Doha, QatarRESPONSIBILITIES
  • Participates as a team member in a specificphase of a broad engineering assignment.
  • Directs preparation ofappropriate documentation for assigned projects.
  • Ensuressuccessful completion of the assigned project/phase within thebudgeted time and cost constraints.
  • Participates in definingengineering approaches, and in planning and scheduling work Evaluates problems, organizes investigations and establishesgeneral performance specifications for components, equipment,systems, processes, etc.
Check Engineering calculations as well ascheck all drawings in accordance with industry codes and standards;Assist with the development of less senior Technical Professionals
  • Adhere to and comply with relevant discipline specific proceduresand provide feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Participate inaudits and incident investigations as required.
  • Performs complexengineering tasks related to specific units of major projects Participate in site visits, project review meetings, design reviewsand other workshops as required.
  • Organising and activeparticipation in design reviews Providing discipline expertise: Solves problems requiring development of new approaches or new usesfor existing approaches; exercises mature professional judgment inevaluating and selecting technical strategic options.
  • Asnecessary, modifies established guidelines, devises new approaches,applies existing criteria in new ways and draws conclusions fromcomparative situations.
  • Regularly functions as a technical leaderor significant contributor to a major complex problem or project Produces innovative ideas and solves problems requiring developmentof new approaches or new uses for existing approaches Consistently called on to use creativity and professional judgementto formulate results based on engineering standards, experience andconstructive thinking
  • Develops unique solutions for complextechnical problems
  • Anticipates potential problems and takes theinitiative to solve complex problems through creative thinking andcreative use of internal and external resources both inside andoutside of discipline expertise
  • Exercises mature professionaljudgement in identifying the implications of experimental results Understands customer needs and applies technical solutions to meetgoals
  • Provide technical input and support to proposals asrequired Supporting and Supervising task delegation to team:
  • Maysupervise a small work group consisting of technical/professionalstaff with some coaching from own supervisor, or may provide adviceand guidance in area of specialization to others.
  • Assist inperforming managerial tasks as requested, such as assigning tasksto engineers; planning and coordinating portions of the engineeringwork; preparing scopes, schedules, and budgets; attending projectmeetings; and developing lesser experienced technical professionals
  • Discusses with other senior engineers to agree priorities andimplications on work of others
  • Approves work schedules and makesrecommendations for increased resources and special equipment Makes commitments on acceptance of projects, completion dates,resources and staff required to meet goals.
  • Coordinates theactivities of engineering and design groups assigned to smallprojects.
  • Participates in developing deadlines, projects and workto be done
  • May manage one or more small projects, withresponsibility for cost, schedule, resources allocation and risk.
-Provide appropriate HSSE leadership including compliance with siteand office safety requirements and technical/design safetyrequirement
