Key Responsibilities:

Permit Acceptors:

  • Review and accept permits for various work activities, ensuring all necessary documentation and approvals are in place.
  • Verify that the scope of work, hazards, and control measures are clearly defined and understood.
  • Site Inspection and Preparation:
  • Conduct site inspections prior to the commencement of work to ensure all safety measures and controls are in place.
  • Confirm that the work area is properly prepared and free from any hazards.

Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure that all personnel involved in the work activity understand and comply with safety procedures and permit requirements.
  • Monitor work activities to ensure ongoing compliance with safety protocols.

Communication:

  • Maintain clear and effective communication with Permit Issuers, supervisors, and work teams.
  • Ensure that any changes to the work scope or conditions are communicated promptly and appropriately.

Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of all permits accepted, including any conditions, approvals, and closure information.
  • Ensure that all documentation is uptodate and easily accessible for review and audits.

Training and Competency:

  • Ensure that all workers involved in the permitted activity are adequately trained and competent to perform the tasks safely.
  • Provide guidance and support to workers on permit requirements and safety protocols.
  • Ensure that appropriate corrective actions are taken and documented.

Skills and Qualifications:

Knowledge of Safety Protocols:

  • Indepth understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices in the oil and gas industry.

Attention to Detail:

  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure that all permit conditions and safety measures are accurately followed.

Communication Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey safety requirements and coordinate with various stakeholders.

Problem-Solving Skills:

  • Ability to identify potential hazards and implement effective control measures.

Training and Experience:

  • Adequate training and experience in safety management, permit systems, and the specific operational environment of Qatar Shell.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal skills to manage relationships with workers, supervisors, and regulatory bodies.

Typical Work Activities:

Pre-Work Checks:

  • Verify that all necessary safety equipment is available and functional.
  • Ensure that the work area is properly barricaded and signposted.

Work Monitoring:

  • Regularly check on the progress of the work to ensure compliance with the permit conditions.
  • Identify any deviations from the permit requirements and take corrective actions.

Post-Work Review:

  • Conduct a thorough review of the work area once the job is completed to ensure it is safe to return to normal operations.
  • Sign off on the permit closure and document any observations or issues.
