What THE PRINCIPAL SOLICITOR role looks like .

We are looking for an experienced Principal Solicitor to join our multidisciplinary team at Kimberley Community Legal Service in As a Principal Solicitor, you will be working closely with our Chief Executive Officer to manage our Legal Team (East Kimberley).

No two days will look the same in this role, but a typical day might entail .

  • Coordinate the provision of legal information, advice, assistance, casework, and representation to clients across the Kimberley
  • Manage KCLS legal staff, including performance reviews and professional development planning and
  • Coordinate the involvement of solicitors in community legal education and provide training and support to staff in the provision of legal
  • Participate in community networks and build/maintain relationships with referring agencies, key organisations, community leaders, and local people relevant to legal
  • Identify and develop opportunities for improving the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of legal services and community legal
  • Undertake professional development activities to maintain and enhance the knowledge and skills required to fulfil the key responsibilities of the


Requirements

Eligibility to hold an unrestricted practising certificate in Western Australia and approximately 5 years or more post admission

Well-developed casework and advocacy experience in family and civil

Proven ability to coordinate legal services and

Demonstrated experience in the supervision of other solicitors and in managing and developing staff

Highly developed written and interpersonal communication skills and ability to apply these skills with a diverse range of people, groups, and

Understanding and commitment to principles of social justice and to working effectively with Indigenous

Experience in advising and representing people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and in developing and delivering community education

Personal resilience, adaptability and ability to meet the challenges of remote service

Current driver s license valid for use in

Successful applicants will need to provide references, a recent WA Police Clearance, current Working with Children s Check, and their working rights in


Further DESIRABLE criteria

Experience in a community legal practice setting and/or community-based organisation

Completed or open to undertaking a Legal Practice Management Course relevant to either the Private or NFP
