WhatTHE PRINCIPAL SOLICITOR role looks like.

Weare looking for an experienced Principal Solicitor to join ourmultidisciplinary team at Kimberley Community LegalService in As a PrincipalSolicitor, you will be working closely with our Chief ExecutiveOfficer to manage our Legal Team (EastKimberley).

Notwo days will look the same in this role, but a typical day mightentail.

  • Coordinatethe provision of legal information, advice, assistance, casework,and representation to clients across the Kimberley
  • ManageKCLS legal staff, including performance reviews and professionaldevelopment planning and
  • Coordinatethe involvement of solicitors in community legal education andprovide training and support to staff in the provision of legal
  • Participatein community networks and build/maintain relationships withreferring agencies, key organisations, community leaders, and localpeople relevant to legal
  • Identifyand develop opportunities for improving the quality, effectivenessand efficiency of legal services and community legal
  • Undertakeprofessional development activities to maintain and enhance theknowledge and skills required to fulfil the key responsibilities ofthe

Eligibility tohold an unrestricted practising certificate in Western Australiaand approximately 5 years or more post admission

Well-developedcasework and advocacy experience in family and civil

Proven abilityto coordinate legal services and

Demonstratedexperience in the supervision of other solicitors and in managingand developing staff

Highly developedwritten and interpersonal communication skills and ability to applythese skills with a diverse range of people, groups, and

Understandingand commitment to principles of social justice and to workingeffectively with Indigenous

Experience inadvising and representing people from culturally and linguisticallydiverse backgrounds and in developing and delivering communityeducation

Personalresilience, adaptability and ability to meet the challenges ofremote service

Current driver slicense valid for use in
