Successful applicantsmust have:

  • A certified teaching qualification, such asB.Ed, PGCE, or equivalent (the PGCE must be accompanied by asubject relevant Bachelor's Degree).
  • Preferably a National Award for SEN Coordination or equivalent
  • Determine the strategic development of specialeducational needs (SEN) policy and provision in the school.
  • Be responsible for day-to-day operation of the SENpolicy and coordination of specific provision to support individualpupils with SEN or a disability.
  • Provide professionalguidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents, andother agencies.
  • Establish high expectations of teammembers and students and setting challenging targets for each ofthem to achieve;
  • Ensure that systems and procedures arein place to enable the effective and consistent progression of allstudents within the cohort;
  • Promote approaches tolearning and teaching that engage and motivate students and demandtheir active participation;
  • Strengthen learning andteaching through a programme of professional development andpractical support
