Job Overview:

ThePrincipal Electrical Engineer should have a detailed knowledge ofdesign techniques and Manager or Project Manager analysis methodsand detailed knowledge of the theory content and application ofstandards codes. Functional: Supervising Engineer Engineering andguidelines as applicable for offshore.
Manager &Discipline Manager Knowledgeable in project coordination andexecution skills.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Become fully familiarwith the project scope of work specifications schedule and allinterdiscipline requirements; including identifying concerns asearly as practicable and taking appropriate initiatives to addressthe issues. Interpret contractual requirements as they relate toengineering execution.
• Identify changes toscope and promptly raise change notifications including providingany necessary supporting documentation and estimates. Providesimilar support for Variation Orders.
• Interface with all disciplines to develop clash freedesigns.
• Interface with other departments toobtain input for Discipline designs and drawings.
• Maintain close coordination with other engineeringdisciplines Planning Fabrication/Construction
• Marine /Hookup Commissioning and Project Management Teamas required.
• Document substantivecommunications (communications that result in significant decisionsor assignment of actions) and forward copies to Discipline LeadEngineer and Discipline Manager.
• Prepareestimates for bid proposals including technical query reviewsexecution statements and workhour estimates identifying softwarerequirements and any other projectspecific requirements.
• Raise technical queries to obtain missinginformation clarify work scope and to maintain preferred McDermottprocedures specifications standards practices and operationalrequirements. Prepare review and (as Lead Engineer) approveDiscipline engineering design basis philosophies and technicalspecifications data sheets reports and procedures.
• Participate in finalizing deliverables lists anddeliverables ensuring compliance with specifications and functionalintegrity.
• Review project schedule andfabrication schedule in relation to construction sequencemilestones model review and engineering scope.
• Attend project kickoff and review meetings vendormeetings engineering meetings and offshore site surveys asrequired.
• Provide technical direction andreview of Designers producing products related to ElectricalEngineering.
• Attend 3D model reviews safetyworkshops constructibility review & Client meetings.
• Assist in providing necessary design inputsto other disciplines to enable them in proceeding with theirdeliverables.
• Assist procurement personnel inprocuring Discipline equipment materials and services; ensuringthat work produced complies with Customer objectives andprocedures. Procurement assistance includes preparing reviewing and(as Lead Engineer) approving requisitions evaluating technicalquotations and preparing queries compiling bid tabulations andrecommendations preparing purchase requisitions and coordinatingwith Procurement to expedite vendor documents as directed byDiscipline Lead Engineer.
• Assist in updatingweight report based on receipt of vendor information.
• Review and (as Lead Engineer) approve vendor andsubcontractor submittals checking for compliance with projectspecifications and providing comments as necessary.
• Review and (as Lead Engineer) approve design verificationthrough singlediscipline check/ interdiscipline check IDC.
• Provide technical support to fabricationqueries including identifying defect / rectification requirements.
• Keep the Discipline Manager and ProjectManagement Team apprised of all activities and concerns technicalbudgetary and manpower related.
• Assist inproviding inputs for actual planning and forecasting progressreports including associated productivity.
• Check final subcontractor and vendor data manuals toensure that all requested data has been received and approved.
• Present issues and problems to Customers in atimely manner and assist Lead Engineer in negotiating resolution inaccordance with project and company requirements.
• Perform (as required) Technical Quality Audit reviews inaccordance with MOR Global Procedures.
• AssistLead Engineer with responses to Customer and other agencies (suchas certifying authorities auditors third parties etc.) on theirreview and approval.
• Capture lessons learnedand enter into MDRs Lessons Learned system.
• Capture Knowledge Objects and enter into MDRs K.nowsystem.
• Guide less experienced engineers onMOR and Discipline procedures standards worksheets designcalculations software requisitions technical bid evaluationstechnical queries etc.
• Supervise and guideassigned engineers and coordinate with project Lead Designers forDiscipline engineering and design deliverables including qualitycheck list and audit readiness.
• Responsiblefor the engineering integrity of the assigned work area.
• Monitor costs and work hrs of own workprocesses.
• Assist in the maintenance ofdepartmental technical guidelines and standard calculation notes.
• Participate in development and maintenance ofGlobal Procedures/standards &software validation.
• May participate in standards developmentcommittees or task groups such as API.
• Develop communication and presentation skills (e.g. writetechnical papers participate in conferences and/or seminars presentdesign solutions and/or present topics at lunch and learns; valuemoments etc.).
• Identify and provide trainingto staff in specific techniques and proprietary software.
• Provide information on employee performanceto the Discipline Manager.
• Assist Disciplinemanager in interviewing job applicants.
• Review and (as Lead Engineer) approve material listsP&ID etc. for Electrical equipment / systems and services.
• Prepare review and (as Lead Engineer) approvelighting calculations / illumination study for platform lightingsystem.
• Prepare review and (as Lead Engineer)approve load lists or update load lists issued by Customer
• Coordinate and arrange for equipmentinspection FAT at vendor works.
• Participatein FAT & inspection and preparation & resolution ofpunch lists on arrival of skid /material.
• Prepare review and (as Lead Engineer) approve spare partlists and preservation reports.
• Training ofidentified team personnel /national engineers
• Review and (as Lead Engineer) approve Precommissioningand commissioning index and provide technical assistance on siteduring precommissioning and startup as required.
• Review and provide input to secondary cable routing(branch cable trays channel trays single tubing etc.) wheredetailing not done.
• Advise fabrication yardof installation locations for small Electrical equipment that arenot sufficiently detailed in AFC drawings.
• Prepare review and (as Lead Engineer) approve cableschedule & drum schedules
• Identifyspecial tools equipment and requirements for commissioning andHookup.
• Prepare / review Hookup installationprocedures offshore survey for tieins & check lists etc.
• Identify the materials required for offshorehookup.
• Coordinate with vendors forinstallation and precomm I commissioning including SAT.
• Coordinate work content split between onshore fabricationand installation and Offshore installation and Hookup.
• Review and check electrical equipment list &Master Equipment list.
• Participate in thechecking and (as Lead Engineer) approval of key disciplinedeliverables such as:
  • All electrical systemstudies using approved software.
  • I/O listC&E chart and ESD logic diagrams.
  • Specifications Data sheets Requisitions TBEs .
  • SLD Interconnection and troubleshootingdrawings.
  • Hazardous area classificationdrawings.
  • Protection and control schematicdiagrams.
  • Electrical Load list &equipment sizing calculations
  • Lightingcalculations Earthing layout Cable ladder and cable routing& lighting layout.
  • Electricalswitchgear and battery room layouts
• Participate in HAZOP HAZID ENVIDSAFOP and SIL Studies.
• Provide Electricalinput to precomm. activities and offshore hookups.
• When acting as Lead Engineer in addition:
  • Act as projectbased Discipline point of contact incommunications and meetings with Customer counterparts.
  • Ensure substantive communications are documented.
  • Prepare bids and projects Disciplineengineering budget and execution plans updating as required.
  • Identify project staff needs based onknowledge of individual engineers skill sets and provide requeststo the Discipline manager.
  • Plan organize andassign tasks responsibilities and manhour budgets to the disciplineteam and verify tasks are completed within budgets.
  • Plan Discipline Level 4 detail deliverable schedule/register compliant with the overall execution plan.
  • Prepare workinQ forecasts identifvinQ chani:iemanai:iement plans corrective action and realtime schedule
  • Provide Discipline inputs for actual planningand forecasting progress reports including associated productivity.
  • Alert project team of any deviation from thescope or a need for change order.
  • Monitor KPImeasurement results and take corrective action as necessary toimprove discipline performance including performance at interfaceswith others.
  • Coordinate with other DisciplineLead Engineers and Designers to ensure timely receipt of necessarydesign inputs.
  • Review and approverequisitions technical quotation evaluations and queries compiledbid tabulations and recommendations and purchase requisitions; andcoordinate with Procurement to expedite vendor documents asrequired.
  • Lead the Discipline team duringproject audits (internal Customer and thirdparty technical audits)and Design Reviews.
  • Review comments fromCustomers & other agencies on documents and drawingsproduced by the team and resolve and give guidance on their updateand incorporation.
  • Assist Discipline managerin the preparation of quarterly forecasts and manpower planning.
  • Anticipate project engineering needs and planaccordingly.
  • Coordinate with vendor fordiscipline managed/procured items.
  • AssistDiscipline manager and Project Engineering Manager or ProjectManager in Performance Evaluation of project teammembers.

Essential Qualificationsand Education:

• BachelorDegree in Electrical Engineering
• 10 yrs inoil and gas with major contractor or consultant predominantlyperforming detail design of offshore facilities

Preferred Qualifications andEducation:

• Master Degree& UPDA is Preferred
• PreferablyRegistered Professional Engineer or member of professionalengineering society
