About the role

This is an exciting and new role as Lead Nurse Manager for Nursing Operations within the Qatar Airways Medical Division. As the lead Nurse you will be responsible for the clinical, professional and managerial leadership for all nurses and services within the division.

Services within the division include the clinical specialties of Aeromedical, Primary Health Care, Occupational Health and Health & Lifestyle Performance which are provided across a range of facilities based in Doha Qatar.

The division currently provides the above services to Qatar Airways employees and has future plans to expand new services & facilities in the specialties of primary health, occupational health and health and lifestyle performance, to become the provider of choice for all Qatar Airways employees.

With this in mind we are looking for an experienced nurse leader who not only can lead and manage nursing staff but who is committed to ensuring patients receive compassionate, quality care by meeting safety, quality and professional standards highlighted in the nursing regulations and scope of practice of the State of Qatar and who has the enthusiasm and energy to develop new services for the future.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the development of the professional nursing strategy in collaboration with GMD executive team ensuring that the nursing strategy supports the mission and objectives of the overall Medical Service.
  • Provide expert advice to the line manager on professional nursing and related operational matters, and contribute to the implementation of the nursing and GMD strategic vision.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders, ensuring effective communication within area of responsibility and within nursing teams, acting as a role model for clinical leadership, clinical engagement and patient advocacy.
  • Responsible for developing a transparent and collaborative communication strategy and structure for the nursing teams ensuring regular monthly updates and communication briefs to teams.
  • Develop in collaboration with the business procurement teams', systems and processes for the centralized ordering of clinical equipment, supplies, and services in line with GMD procurement policy.
  • Provide leadership as required of clinical projects particularly those relating to improvement of care pathways and implementation of best practice to ensure enhancement of the patient's experience.
  • Accountable for the overall clinical and operational leadership of nursing services across GMD, that includes developing, directing and assuring the delivery of cost-effective quality nursing care for all patients.
  • Ensure appropriate skill mix, deployment and utilization of the nursing workforce, that is consistent with national, regulatory and good practice requirements to maximize quality, safety & effective use of resources.
  • Provide clinical leadership and participate in direct patient care, providing clinical expertise in emergency and incident management as well as front line services by maintaining clinical practice hours sufficient to maintain registration in line with DHP requirements. (minimum 1 day per week)
  • Provide inspirational and visible professional leadership, acting as a role model for the nursing team's ensuring that the patient remains a key focus of service delivery.
  • Enable, motivate & empower nursing teams to demonstrate personal & professional leadership at all levels, act to challenge approaches which fall short of national guidance, best practice and professional standards
  • Develop and implement strategies and action plans that will improve the quality of nursing care and improve patient safety and wellbeing.
  • Develop the necessary nursing
  • Responsible for ensuring that clinical facilities meet all of the MOPH, Fire and Safety and IPC standards, in collaboration with IPC and other QR professionals ensuring regular patient safety walks are conducted and that actions and issues are resolved.
  • Provide leadership in the development and engagement of nursing teams in the clinical governance agenda working with the clinical governance team to provide support and training for areas such as clinical risk management, clinical audit, staff and patient engagement and staff education and training.

  • Establish the department or teams' objectives and priorities to align with and support business objectives.
  • Regularly evaluate the department or teams' objectives, plans, procedures and practices, and makes appropriate changes if needed.
Qualifications

About you

You will possess:

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with Minimum 9 years of job-related experience.

Essential:

  • Advanced Diploma in Nursing and/or Midwifery (minimum 3/4 years duration) OR Bachelor of Science (or similar) in General Nursing/Midwifery/Mental Health/Pediatric Nursing
  • Minimum of 8+ Years' experience of which 7 should be at senior clinical leadership level commensurate with the role outlined in the job description
  • Valid nursing license in country of origin and eligibility for license with the DHP in the State of Qatar

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree in Healthcare Related Field/Leadership/Management (MBA)
  • Post Graduate/Diploma Qualification in an appropriate nursing related subject i.e., leadership, management, advanced nursing practice in appropriate nursing area/specialty
  • Certification of nursing specialty (aviation nursing, primary care, emergency care, occupational health)
  • Experience and/or knowledge of working within the aviation industry
  • Experience and/or knowledge of working within Aeromedical/Flight Escort Nursing, Primary Care, Occupational Health Nursing or Emergency care nursing.

Job Specific Skills:

  • Command of English language
  • Ability to provide transformational leadership to the area of responsibility/team of nurses
  • Knowledge of legislative, regulatory & policy guidance relevant to the nursing and midwifery practice
  • Knowledge of clinical nursing practice in healthcare environment i.e. hospital/large primary care organization/occupational health or lifestyle and performance
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team
  • Managerial skills - Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow. Strong mentoring and coaching skills. Ability to train and develop subordinate's skills. Ability to foster teamwork among team members.
