WSP Middle East are currently looking for a Commercial Manager to provide operationally sound advice and support to management in relation to a broad range of commercial and contractual tasks on a high-level infrastructure construction supervision project, based in Qatar.

Your new role, what's involved?
  • Supervising and coordinating the construction works to achieve construction in accordance with the Contract Documents and Specifications.
  • Manage and monitor the performance and assist the supervision staff/Project Team and the construction team to help resolve the construction issues.
  • Maintain, manage, and sign off (approval or otherwise rejection) of the Inspection Requests for Roadworks raised by the Contractor.
  • Coordinating with design and construction teams on all design & construction issues.
  • Managing and reviewing the Contractor's Technical Queries (TQs), approval of IFCs, and shop drawings coordination with the relevant disciplines within the supervision team and preparing responses with solutions to the issues.
  • Assisting in the submittal review and approvals i.e. shop drawings, materials submittals, method statements, progress reports, etc.
  • Working as a focal point on site to coordinate and resolve the design-related queries raised by the site supervision team, Client, and the Contractor.
  • Leading with all the re-design activities on the project i.e. capacity enhancements in the approved design (lane additions etc.) as per Client request, making adjustments to design to suit site conditions, providing access to the stakeholders and the neighborhood, coordinating with the interfacing projects, and helping to resolve design issues at/near the tie-in locations.
  • Assisting in the preparation and review of the Temporary Traffic Diversion design (Geometry, pavement & traffic).
  • Preparation of technical communication and minutes of meetings and writing letters to the Contractor, Client, and the interfacing projects.
  • Monitoring progress against the approved construction schedule and reviewing the Contractor's progress reports.
  • Implementation of QCS 2014, QTCM, and QHDM Design & Construction Specifications and relevant international design standards.
  • Ensuring implementation of quality in Road construction works by strict adherence to the quality and safety procedures and requirements.
  • Report to Resident Engineer (Roads) and perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • 14+ years of post-qualification experience working for international consultants on PMC projects in various types of Contracts with proven experience in claims and dispute resolution for major construction and engineering projects.
  • Excellent communication skills verbal, written, and reading in English.
  • Must be MMUP registered.
  • Experience with PMC projects.
