Supporting the Principal / Vice Principal in the effective and efficient leadership and management of the secondary school, including the successful implementation of the school improvement plan.

Ensuring the smooth and effective day-to-day operations of the secondary phase.

Overseeing the continued development of the secondary curriculum across all key stages.

Developing highly effective pastoral systems to ensure the overall personal and academic wellbeing of the students.

Ensuring high levels of student retention and being instrumental in all marketing activities to promote the school to the wider community.

Overseeing continued improvement in student progress and attainment through high quality teaching and learning.

Ensuring the effective use of assessment strategies and data across secondary school to inform quality teaching and learning, curriculum development, target setting and ensure students are reaching their academic potential.

Embedding highly effective strategies and opportunities for parental engagement, including regular, high-quality communication between home and school (Pulse).

Leadership and Management:

Setting the Vision and Strategy: Lead the development and implementation of the school's educational vision for the secondary phase. Work with the leadership team to set long-term goals and strategies that align with the school's mission and values.

School Culture and Values: Foster a positive, inclusive, and productive school culture. Ensure that students are encouraged to succeed academically and socially, while also emphasizing values such as respect, responsibility, and personal growth.

Staff Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and support secondary school staff, including teachers, subject heads, and support staff. Encourage professional development and ensure teachers are equipped with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed in the classroom.

Motivating and Inspiring Students: Provide leadership to students by creating an environment that promotes academic achievement, personal growth, and character development. Work with teachers to develop initiatives that keep students engaged and motivated to reach their potential.

Curriculum and Academic Oversight:

Curriculum Development: Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the school's secondary curriculum. Ensure that it is rigorous, relevant, and aligned with national or international standards, as well as the needs of the students.

Assessment and Evaluation: Monitor student performance through assessment data and ensure that the curriculum is meeting the academic needs of all students. Work with teachers to analyze results and adapt teaching methods as needed to improve outcomes.

Supporting Special Educational Needs (SEN): Ensure that the curriculum and school systems are inclusive and accessible to all students, including those with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the necessary support and resources.

Student Welfare and Pastoral Care:

Student Support Systems: Develop and implement systems that support the personal, social, and emotional well-being of students. This includes overseeing guidance counseling, behavior management, and anti-bullying programs.

Promoting Student Engagement: Encourage extracurricular involvement, community service, and leadership opportunities that help students grow outside the classroom. Work to ensure students are well-rounded and develop skills for life beyond school.

Discipline and Behavior Management: Set and enforce behavior expectations for students, ensuring a safe and respectful learning environment. Address disciplinary issues promptly and fairly, involving parents and staff when necessary.

Promoting Mental Health: Advocate for and implement mental health support programs to help students manage stress, anxiety, and other challenges. Ensure that the school environment promotes the well-being of all students.
