Job Description
The Behavioral Health Specialist is responsible for managing individuals with medical and behavioral health problems within the primary care setting. In addition, this position may also require the development and implementation of wellness programs to support beneficiaries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide social services, behavioral health, and addiction medicine services.
- Provide crisis services in the Emergency Room if available.
- Work directly with primary health care providers in identifying and treating mental disorders and psychosocial difficulties including the detection of at-risk patients and further harm prevention.
- Provide consultative services to patients referred by primary care providers and provide clinical status.
- Determine patient care plans in collaboration with the primary care team.
- Maintain accurate patient records including the proper tracking of treatment plans.
- Educate the primary care team on mood disorders and provide tools and techniques to manage these disorders including anger management and marital and family issues.
- Teach patients, families, and staff about prevention methods and treatment options.
- Provide recommendations for coping strategies that assist members of the refugee population in reducing stress.
- Monitor the site's behavioral health program, identifying problems related to patient services and making recommendations for improvement.
- Utilize various computer software to log patient information and access emails and calendars.
- Actively participate in day-to-day office activities, including a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve procedural processes, obtain approvals, and remain abreast of new developments and policy requirements.
- Actively participate in Mass Casualty exercises and events.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
Experience Required:
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in short term, solution focused counselling with individuals, children, families, and couples.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with psychotherapy groups is preferred.
- Experience on a military/government site, working as a government subcontractor or prime contractor is preferred.
- Current and unrestricted license (LPC, LMFT, LMHC, LISW, LCSW, or similar) or authorizing document from any US State, District of Columbia, US Territory or Country of Record to provide healthcare within scope of practice.
- Must hold a Master's or Doctorate degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work or its equivalent.
- Obtain provided American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- License/Certification to prescribe is preferred.
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
- May require bending, stooping and lifting to 15 lbs.
- On call requirements as part of a rotation if required.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English to effectively communicate.
- This position is unaccompanied.
- Ability to obtain a base security clearance.
- Must be able to relocate to Doha, Qatar.
- A valid passport in country of record is required and must be in your possession prior to relocation. You must maintain a current passport during your stay in Qatar.
Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant's background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
