University of Doha for Science and Technology – Information Technology Directorate - Profile:

The University of Doha for Science and Technology – Information Technology Directorate is inviting nominations and applications for the position of Manager, Business Applications. Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, the Manager, Business Applications must possess the skills and expertise necessary to support the Information Technology Directorate of the University and fully implement UDST's mission and vision.

Duties & Responsibilities:

This position requires an energetic and enthusiastic individual preferably with relevant experience in the University/Education Sector who will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Business Application team. Responsibilities include:

  1. Planning and implementing project schedules, managing technical resources, and coordinating with all development stakeholders.
  2. Managing a team of software specialists and analysts to meet UDST's strategic and operational objectives.
  3. Supporting the development of the IT business plan in alignment with UDST's strategy.
  4. Providing technical oversight for the Business Applications team and ensuring the appropriate design and build of IT solutions.
  5. Identifying and implementing IT and project management training and overseeing the development of stakeholder IT project vision and scope, in alignment with ITIL and UDST protocols.
  6. Overseeing the analysis and diagnosis of IT-related issues and leading the development of solutions.
  7. Identifying new technology needs, including new software products or enhancements to existing products.
  8. Overseeing documentation for IT projects and ensuring timely, efficient, and accurate completion of projects.
  9. Tracking performance and identifying trends and opportunities for process improvements.
  10. Leading the development of tools to collect, store, manage, secure, and distribute data to employees.
  11. Coordinating with IT Security Specialist and Manager, IT Operations to ensure corporate data protection.
  12. Overseeing training provided on new software or network facilities.
  13. Contributing to the development of IT policies, procedures, processes, and guidelines.
  14. Providing professional development support and performing periodic performance reviews for direct subordinates based on UDST's Employee Performance Management framework.

Qualifications

Education and Certifications:

  • Master's degree in IT or related field required.
  • Professional certification is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in IT or related field.
  • 0-1 year of managerial experience.

Language:

  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic is preferred.

Other Required Skills:

  • Innovative and highly motivated leader with a high standard of professional integrity.
  • Demonstrated experience in Business Application processes.
  • Strong knowledge of Functional Requirement Analysis, Education Technologies know-how, Application Development, and IT Project Management.
  • Ability to anticipate change and effectively manage quality and risk.
  • Analytical thinking, decision making, and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Resource management, ability to coach and mentor.
  • Commitment to positive relationship building and effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.
