Wood is currently recruiting for the Lead Electrical Engineers to be based at our Doha Qatar office.

Contribute to the delivery of engineering excellence through:

  • Definition and approval of technical scopes.
  • Executing assigned scopes of work.
  • Providing technical expertise to the business.
  • Contributing to business growth.

May manage and supervise teams and/or act as a technical specialist. Performs complex assignments often requiring development of new or improved products, processes, or techniques.

Assesses feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering designs, products, and equipment. Uses advanced technical knowledge to perform engineering assignments and produce engineering deliverables including complex problems and to complete any project tasks with minimal guidance and direction. May serve as the Lead Engineer or the project Technical Authority on projects and hold advanced level specialization in one or more areas of expertise. Functions as a technical specialist who develops applications, hypotheses, approaches and applies advanced engineering concepts to unique engineering problems.

In addition to specialization, generally directs highly qualified professionals engaged in complex engineering projects.

Provides technical reviews for complex projects within the area of expertise.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • ISCED Level 6 Bachelors (minimum) or Level 7 Masters (preferred).
  • Chartership or relevant professional engineer status accredited by a national or industry engineering institution preferred.

Minimum Experience:

  • Requires mature professional knowledge and extensive progressive experience in general engineering.
  • Typically requires 6 to 10 years progressively more responsible pertinent experience; developing his/her area, and knowledgeable about impacts on other areas.

  • Ability to provide guidance and direction to project team, managing, motivating and mentoring professional engineering specialists.
  • Ability to discover issues and recommend solutions to technical and commercial issues uncovered during course of performing assignments.
  • Proficient user of relevant software and calculation templates.
  • Professional level of ability in the application of standards, processes and procedures and how they are used in work execution.
  • Professional level of knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
  • Technically competent in own discipline, pursues continuous professional development of skills and knowledge according to standards.
  • Maintains own knowledge of relevant regulatory framework, legislation changes, initiatives and industry technology developments and promotes to direct reports.
  • Applies mature professional knowledge and experience to assignments where issues and factors to be considered may be characterized by unusual demands and require additional evaluation to establish the nature and scope of the problem.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply advanced laws, principles, mathematics or industry knowledge in the improvement and development of designs.
  • Demonstrated skills in persuasion, negotiation, motivation and communication.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in project planning.
  • Possess a working knowledge of the various Business Units, Functions, Sectors and services offered within business area, and general understanding of other Wood business offerings.
