Instrumentation & Control Designer

To provide Instrumentation & Control discipline specific design and drafting services to Worley and its clients, and provide technical support and assistance within the Instrumentation & Control discipline team.

Major Accountabilities Of PositionPrimary Objectives / ResponsibilitiesTechnical Competency

• Supports adherence to accepted engineering and design practices, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
• Supports the standardization of equipment specifications, drawings, and document templates.
• Contributes to the understanding of technical knowledge, legal requirements, and customer specifications whenever viable and lawful.
• Uses local/global standards to support technical excellence.
• Supports checking, peer reviews, and incorporation of comments and findings.
• Develop I&C and Telecoms discipline specific design, drafting and 3D modelling services that meet Worley, the client's and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Apply recognised offshore / onshore engineering practices applicable to Instrumentation & Control design engineering.

Project Execution

• Must have knowledge of the Instrumentation & Control including Fire and Gas and Telecoms discipline scope/cost/time requirements, and assists the team to meet expectations, and coordinates with other disciplines to ensure project success.
• Implements innovative solutions, technology advances, and methods to effectively deal with working out of sequence.
• Perform design and drafting assignments on projects that meet project requirements on time and within budget.

Project Deliverables

• Gathers data from multiple sources and prepares design drawings, schedules, Bill of Quantities, 3D models, EDMS and Material take-offs.
• Assists with recommendations and helps create final documentation.
• Creates final documentation incorporating all relevant information and pursues internal authorization.

Major Accountabilities Of Position

• Perform Instrumentation & Control discipline specific design and drafting services such as:
• Identify and report changes to project scope.
• Prepare engineering drawings and documentation.
• Prepare 3D model for Instrumentation, F&G and Telecoms.
• Understands design deliverables required for all project phases, and their various purposes.

Knowledge / Experience / Competencies RequiredJob Specific Knowledge:

• Checking of drawing numbers based on client Document Standard into EDMS.
• 3D model development for instrumentation and telecoms.
• Allocation of data input in EDMS for Terminations, Single line diagram, Block diagram, Interconnection diagram, Pneumatic and Hydraulic Hook-ups, Plan layout, and Data sheets to ensure its compliance with Design standard and with the latest client Document Standard for Design Engineering Service of client.
• Checking and approval of Process, Instrument, Electrical, Fire & Gas and Telecommunication for line numbers, Tag numbers and Cable numbers for project requirement to ensure its compliance with design standard and with the latest standards.
• Validating, correcting, assigning and checking of Tags in drawings and in EDMS as part of the requirements of the Master Data Build (MDB) team.
• Assisting other department with regards of allocation of equipment space, electrical power, cable trays, duct-banks, and other types of cable containments.

Industry Specific Experience:

• Minimum of 8-years project experience in design, drafting, modelling, and engineering of I&C, F&G and Telecoms.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

• Trade Apprenticeship, Certificate, Diploma, Advance Diploma of Engineering Technology in Mechanical/Instrumentation & Control discipline.

IT Skills:

• Proficient in AutoCAD and SP3D/PDMS/PMS. Additionally, experience in SPI, REVIT and Microstation will be preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
