The Library Services Directorate invites applications for the position of Information Services Librarian.

Your Commitment

Reporting to the Head, Reference and Library Services, the successful candidate will provide information services to students, faculty, and employees and assist with research needs, contributing to the learning environment at the UDST through the support of Library services.

Duties & Responsibilities

Operational

  1. The successful candidate will provide support to Head, Reference and Library Services in reference and research services by answering questions and conducting reference interviews with students and employees to identify research needs.
  2. Utilize and share expert search strategies to provide advice on appropriate resources, ensuring that information needs are met.
  3. Follow up on research inquiries in a timely manner to select, evaluate and compile reference materials.
  4. Revise online subject and resource guides that highlight technology, current trends, and Library resources to aid in student and employee research needs.
  5. Deliver information/digital literacy and research classes that demonstrate critical thinking, hands-on learning, and collaboration.
  6. Support library collection development through review of relevant lists, knowledge of publications, feedback from users, and curriculum and accreditation need.
  7. Support scholarly communication functions including advising on copyright, open access, publishing, and impact analysis.
  8. Assist in the assignment and delegation of tasks to Senior Technical Support Specialists, Library Technical Support Specialists, and Student employees.
  9. Participate on UDST and Business Unit committees to ensure and promote UDST, Library and information management policies and procedures in alignment with industry best practices.
  10. Attend relevant meetings and participate in initiatives to monitor and enhance student learning development and success.
  11. Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of Library policies and procedures to engage in continuous improvement.
  12. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Certifications: Master's degree in Library and/or Information Science, from an ALA-accredited or equivalent program, is required.

Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Library Services or related field.

Language: Fluency in written and spoken English language is required. Fluency in written and spoken Arabic language is preferred.

Other Required Skills: Attention to Detail, Teamwork and Collaborative Working, Organizational Awareness, Time Management, Service Excellence with technical competencies in Library Science and process design and efficiency are required.
