As Occupational Health Doctor, you will be Accountable for providing medical and occupational healthcare to Qatar Airways employees to an acceptable internationally accredited standard. Provide occupational health advice and guidance to QR Group Management and business and function leaders. Contribute to the delivery of a high-quality occupational healthcare in line with the principles of Clinical Governance and Qatar's MOPH Medical Standards.

Accountabilities

Operational :

  1. Assist Senior Doctor in the analysis of QR Group Occupational Health needs and provide recommendations that support the development of an effective Occupational Health (OH) service.
  2. Promote health of QR Group employees by providing occupational health initiatives such as educational trainings to employees in support of a company-wide healthy workforce.
  3. Review pre-employment health questionnaires and advise business on fitness to work for potential employees.

Clinical Governance :

  1. Promote highest clinical standards in the delivery of occupational healthcare.
  2. Participate in the teaching and clinical supervision of the Occupational Health nursing team.
  3. Participate in regular audit of clinical activity and effectiveness to aid the improvement and expansion of the Occupational Health service.
  4. Engage in continuous professional development and support that of the wider OH team.

Clinical :

  1. Provide high quality occupational health services to Qatar Airways staff.
  2. Maintain client confidentiality and respond to medical problems presented by clients through history taking, examination and appropriate sign posting / referral for continued care as needed.
  3. Recognize and provide appropriate advice and care in the event of urgent or emergency conditions in line with agreed protocols and / or best practice guidelines.
  4. Provide appropriate health promotion and preventative health care advice to clients.
  5. Have accurate and up-to-date knowledge of medications, doses, drug interactions and potential side effects.
  6. Be responsible for appropriate prescribing where needed in accordance with national prescribing guidelines.
  7. Perform pre-employment medical examinations.
  8. Advise on the occupational health implications of existing medical conditions.
  9. Actively communicate and coordinate care of clients with colleagues, specialist services and allied health professionals as required to ensure best quality of care is delivered to staff.

Additional Accountabilities :

  1. Report incidences and near misses in line with practice policy.
  2. Practice duty of care including meeting practice standards and accountability.
  3. Maintain patient and practice confidentiality at all times.
  4. Work to the highest professional and ethical standard.
  5. Maintain registration with QCHP.

Qualifications

About you

  1. Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent with Minimum 5 years of job-related experience.
  2. Primary Medical Degree, MBBS, MBChB or similar from an internationally recognized University.
  3. Qualification in Occupational Health Medicine, equivalent to Diploma, MSc or above as listed in table 2 & 3 of the Qatar's MOPH Medical Licensing Standards.
  4. Experience in provision of occupational medicine in a Commercial, Industrial, Aviation or Military setting.
  5. Proven experience of demonstrating flexibility to meet the changing demands of the business.

Preferred

  1. Experience in Aviation Medicine.
  2. Experience of working within a multicultural environment.
  3. Eligibility for Occupational Health specialist recognition in Qatar.

  1. Fluent in English, written and spoken.
  2. Pleasant and comforting bed-side manner.
  3. Compassionate and empathetic professional manner.
  4. Understanding of complex issues, planning and budget management.
  5. Proven ability to work under pressure to defined tight timescales and budget.
  6. Proven experience of demonstrating flexibility to meet the changing demands of the business.
