Manager, Student Counselling and Accessibility Services - Profile:

The Student Affairs Division unit invites applications for the position Manager, Student Counselling and Accessibility Services. Reporting to Vice President, Student Affairs. The successful candidate will oversee the counselling and accessibility programs associated with Student Success by implementing strategic and operating plans to meet the learning needs of the students in alignment with University's overall objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities:Strategic

The successful candidate will support the development of the Student Counselling and Accessibility Services business plan in alignment with University's strategy.

Operational

The successful candidate will contribute in the development of Student Counselling and Accessibility Services' policies, procedures, processes and guidelines and will oversee the comprehensive student counselling program for the University.

The successful candidate will oversee and follow up on cases of escalated student concerns where counselling interventions are required and will review and develop the provision of professional and specialist services, to deliver an appropriate range of interventions and activities including one-to-one support, group work, on-line support and materials, and self-help resources; all with the aim of supporting individual students throughout their journey at the University in a way that will best enable them to manage their studies and wider University life.

The successful candidate will act as a University expert and consultant in matters relating to student mental health and counselling, explaining and interpreting the context of mental health support to applicants, students and colleagues and will perform conflict mediation and resolution between students, students and teachers, or parents and teachers to ensure students' goals are not disrupted.

The successful candidate will lead the research, development, and implementation of advocacy initiatives, policies, procedures, and programs for students with special abilities and will oversee all operations for accessibility services administered through the Student Counselling and Accessibility Services department.

The successful candidate will advise University's Business Units on accessibility issues by promoting and monitoring services offered to students with accessibility needs, as well as monitoring compliance with relevant Qatari regulation and will maintain direct working knowledge of assistive technology, software, and alternate formats, including media, print books, journals, etc. as it applies to providing accommodated testing services to eligible students.

The successful candidate will perform other job-related miscellaneous duties, as assigned.

People Management

The successful candidate will provide professional development support and perform periodic performance reviews for direct subordinates based on University's Employee Performance Management framework to ensure continual high performance of employees in alignment with the University's mission and mandate and will contribute to the development of workforce plans for the Student Counselling and Accessibility Services in collaboration with Human Capital.

The successful candidate will contribute to the development of employees through identifying appropriate learning and development opportunities and will contribute to the recruitment of talent within the Student Counselling and Accessibility Services.

QualificationsEducation and Certifications:
  • Master's degree in relevant field is required
  • Professional qualification is preferred
Experience:

Minimum 8 Years Relevant Experience

Language:

Fluency in written and spoken English language is required. Knowledge of Arabic language is preferred.
