Key Roles & Responsibilities

Strategy & Budget

  1. Provide input and drive all Shipping Agencies strategies & activities in accordance with the Long-Term Strategy, Business Plan & Annual Budgeting Process.
  2. Drive the development of an organizational structure, processes, resources, and staff competency levels that meet the current & future requirements per the strategy.
  3. Actively participate in budget preparation of the department with necessary performance forecasts, revenue projections, action plans & manpower requirements of Shipping Agencies.
  4. Monitor Shipping Agency budget, its revenue performance and provide regular updates to the VP Ship Services on its financial performance.

Operations, Sales and Business Development

  1. Develop and win significant new business, maximize revenues from new opportunities and retain existing clients worldwide.
  2. Responsible for the management of Sales plans in each section within Shipping Agency.
  3. Act as the primary contact and relationship manager for all customers of Shipping Agency.
  4. Work effectively with other business unit managers to develop proposals and win new business across the company.
  5. Lead the negotiation and management of Shipping Agencies services, consultants, clients and programs.
  6. Ensure smooth and efficient overall operations of Shipping Agency.
  7. Ensure issuance of delivery orders for all consignments arriving by Milaha Agency vessels.
  8. Recognize opportunities for system improvements aimed at optimizing the processing of claims, effectiveness of Protection and Indemnity insurance (P&I) services, and streamlining container operations.
  9. Monitor sales activities, manage sales pipeline, develop a systematic approach to push specific behaviors and ultimately drive to achieve the desired success.
  10. Promote and drive growth by selling additional products and services of MILAHA.
  11. Manage project delivery ensuring the operational, performance goals and objectives are achieved.
  12. Represent department/company in various trade shows and maritime/logistics exhibitions.
  13. Play a vital role in tendering process, customer contracts and renewals, DAs and Invoices processing, customer receivables and outstanding.
  14. Closely monitor/assist the Liner Services and Shipping Agency Sales teams in meeting the set targets.
  15. Review statistics reports of Shipping Agency performance, revenue and expense details as well as manpower details.
  16. Responsible for implementing the necessary procedures and changes in the section as per the action plan of the Management & Audit recommendations.
  17. Develop and implement operationally and commercially essential instruments for the improvement of the department's portfolio.

Leadership

  1. Conduct periodic meetings with subordinates to ensure smooth running of shipping agencies processes and activities.
  2. Supervise subordinate staff, assign work activities, monitor performance, and review results.
  3. Act as a coach to subordinates, identify their training and career development, recommend training courses and follow-up on their personnel records.
  4. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Professional Qualification:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration.
  • Professional training on selling skills and/or Key Account Management or similar will be an added advantage.

Professional Experience:

  • 15+ years of experience in Maritime sector.
  • At least 5 years in a managerial role.
  • Must have excellent communication and presentation skills.

Geographic Experience:

  • Local experience is an added advantage.

Computer Skills:

  • MS Office and web applications.

Language Skills:

  • Business fluent English.

Market/Industry/Functional Knowledge:

  • Good knowledge in Shipping & Logistics activities.
  • Good knowledge of international and local shipping and freight regulations.
  • Good knowledge of Government organization procedures, policies and regulations.
