We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Scientist to join our dynamic research team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemistry or chemical engineering and demonstrated expertise in CO₂ capture, CO₂ conversion technologies, electrochemical systems, catalyst development, and materials synthesis and testing. Experience with 3D printing and its application in research and development is highly desirable. This role offers the opportunity to lead innovative projects, develop cutting-edge solutions for CO₂ utilization, and contribute to high-impact research publications.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Research and Development:
  2. Design and conduct experiments related to Sustainable Aviation fuel (SAF), CO₂ capture and electrochemical conversion to valuable products.
  3. Synthesize and optimize materials, including catalysts, for CO₂ electroreduction, ensuring high efficiency and selectivity.
  4. Develop, test, and characterize advanced materials using techniques such as SEM, TEM, XRD, BET, and FTIR.
  5. Design and build electrochemical cells and systems for laboratory-scale testing.
  6. Utilize 3D printing technologies for prototyping and fabricating custom components for research applications.
  7. Perform hands-on laboratory work, including catalyst synthesis, characterization, and performance evaluation.
  8. Project Management:
  9. Lead and manage research projects, ensuring timely delivery of objectives.
  10. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate CO₂ capture and conversion systems with other processes.
  11. Develop and implement experimental protocols, ensuring reproducibility and accuracy.
  12. Proposal Development:
  13. Identify funding opportunities and prepare competitive research grant proposals.
  14. Develop detailed project plans, budgets, and timelines for grant submissions.
  15. Scientific Contribution:
  16. Publish high-quality research articles in peer-reviewed journals.
  17. Present findings at national and international conferences.
  18. Stay updated with advancements in CO₂ capture, conversion technologies, materials development, and related fields.
  19. Collaboration and Mentorship:
  20. Collaborate with academic, industrial, and government stakeholders on joint research initiatives.
  21. Mentor junior researchers, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students.

Qualifications:

Education:

  1. Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.

Experience:

  1. Minimum 3-5 years of postdoctoral or industrial research experience in CO₂ capture and conversion.
  2. Catalyst development and characterization techniques (e.g., SEM, TEM, XRD, BET, FTIR).
  3. Familiarity with simulation tools (e.g., Aspen Plus, COMSOL) for process modeling and materials synthesis and testing for CO₂-related applications.
  4. Electrochemical systems, including cell design and testing.
  5. 3D printing for research and development purposes, including prototyping and custom component fabrication.
  6. Laboratory-scale process development and optimization.
  7. Track record of contribution to research grants and successfully executing funded projects.
  8. Strong publication record in high-impact journals.

Skills:

  1. Strong proven grant design and development as well as writing.
  2. Proficiency in designing and conducting complex experiments.
  3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  4. Excellent communication and technical writing abilities.
  5. Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with techno-economic analysis (TEA) or life cycle assessment (LCA) of CO₂ capture and conversion systems.
  2. Familiarity with simulation tools (e.g., Aspen Plus, COMSOL) for process modeling.
  3. Knowledge of advanced techniques for catalyst scale-up and reactor design.
