Functional Responsibilities:Purpose and Scope of Assignment

Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the incumbent of the post will be responsible for the following specific tasks:

  • Support the implementation and evaluation of the assigned programmes/projects; monitor and analyze programme/project development and implementation; review relevant documents and reports; identify issues and opportunities to be addressed; and ensure follow-up actions.
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders and potential partners including government agencies, international, regional and sub-regional organizations, UN entities, research and academic institutions.
  • Organize workshops and develop relevant paperwork, including concept notes, outcome reports, and relevant correspondence.
  • Support research and analysis, present information gathered from diverse sources, and provide summary reports for management.
  • Organize and prepare written outputs, e.g., draft background papers, analysis.
  • Provide substantive support to meetings, conferences, including proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparing documents and presentations.
  • Initiate and coordinate outreach activities; conduct training workshops, seminars.
  • Undertake travel as required.

Perform other duties as may be reasonably required and in line with the incumbent's scope of services above.

Monitoring and Progress Controls
  • Timely delivery of outputs as outlined in the Terms of Reference. Regular bilateral meetings with the supervisor and weekly coordination team meetings with the Head of the Programme Office in UNOCT.
Education/Experience/Language requirements:

  • Education:
  • Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) preferably in political science, international relations, law or related fields.
  • A Bachelor's degree with an additional two years of experience may be accepted in lieu of the Master's requirement.
  • Work Experience Required:
    • A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management and/or support, administration, analysis or related field is required.
      • Desirable: (The following experience is optional. Candidates who do not have it are welcome to apply)
      • Experience working on issues related to counter-terrorism or prevention of violent extremism is desirable.
      • Work experience within the United Nations system or a similar international organization is desirable.
        • Language:
        • Fluency in English is required.
        • Knowledge of French or other UN working language is desired.
