**Position Overview**

The **University of Calgary** opened its first overseas branch campus with generous financial support from the State of Qatar and began delivering undergraduate nursing programs in 2007. Student enrolment has steadily increased during the years, and now the **University of Calgary in Qatar (UCQ)** has several nursing education streams, including a Master's degree program.

The **University of Calgary in Qatar** is currently seeking **PhD-Prepared Nursing Faculty** who will play a key role in the education of nursing students, with focus on graduate level supervision and teaching. This is an excellent opportunity for established academics at professoriate level who have the passion for teaching and research and mentorship of students in an international environment.

**Position Description**

**Summary of Key Responsibilities** (job functions include but are not limited to):

- Participate in the review and development of course materials for nursing students
- Provide classroom instruction and/or lab or seminar (tutorial) guidance as assigned
- Prepare and mark assignments, tests and examinations which are part of the nursing course(s)
- Consult with the Dean or Associate Dean regarding any student or course related issues that arise
- Provide clinical practice supervision for assigned students during all scheduled clinical/ laboratory experiences as assigned
- Mark written assignments which are part of the clinical/laboratory course
- Participate in nursing laboratory sessions conducted on campus
- Consult with the Dean or Associate Dean regarding any student or course related issues that arise
- Evaluate student clinical performance and submit course grades
- Participate as a voting member in appropriate standing and/or ad hoc committees
- Lead in nursing and/or nursing education related community service
- Support the creation of a scholarly environment through professional development, professional practice, and/or participation in research

**Qualifications / Requirements**:

- Classroom and/or clinical teaching at the undergraduate level and require evidence of successful teaching ability, professional experience, and evidence of personal scholarship
- Experience in teaching and/or supervising graduate students is an asset
- Nursing registration with a Canadian registration authority or other Registration or licensing authority
- Previous research and peer reviewed publications
- PhD Nursing, or a nursing degree together with a PhD in a relevant discipline, e.g., Education.
