IT Manager

We are looking for strong School IT Manager to join our IT team. He / She should be able to manage and oversee the implementation and compliance with RGS IT policies, procedures and systems. Provide expertise, support, and advice with various IT functions and protocols for a large International School.

**Duties**

**Provide strategic leadership and management of all IT services at the School to enable effective teaching and learning and administration. And develop a strategy to ensure the provision of a highly effective IT network while forging strong collaborative relationships with teaching and administrative staff.**
- **Troubleshooting and Repair**
**A technical support staff person performs the first layer of troubleshooting when something goes wrong with school technology. He answers help desk calls and discusses the problem with the end user. He then attempts to offer solutions that the end user can complete or he uses a remote connection to perform the repair himself, if possible. Often he will visit the staff member to either solve the problem or deliver a replacement device. Sometimes he will seek the help of IT management or a vendor to complete the repair.**
- **Application Support**
- **Network Support**
**The network is the brain and the backbone of the school district's technology. A support specialist will perform much of the basic networking installation and repair on the network while reporting to the network administrator. He will install switches and routers, route and terminate network cable, install wall jacks and troubleshoot or test faulty connections. He will work with the network administrator to distribute and maintain network access passwords and will assist in training new staff members about proper network use.**
- **Other Equipment**
**A tech staff member must have a working knowledge of the many technological tools employed by teachers and other staff members. Should know how to install, set up and maintain multimedia projectors and interactive whiteboards, a common tech tool tandem. Also install and train on the use of a variety of input devices, ranging from document cameras to advanced telephones.**

**Other Requirements and Responsibilities**
- **Working with the architects and construction firm to ensure that the planned services are installed as per the specified plan.**
- **Liaising with suppliers to ensure cost-effective service procurement is achieved.**
- **Overseeing the installation of software and hardware.**
- **Strategically leading and developing the IT environment, including networks, servers, desktops/laptops, and operating systems.**
- **Communicating with the School’s leadership team to set priorities and plan IT delivery once the School is established.**
- **Developing the School’s systems in line with key developments in the computer industry and educational organisations.**
- **Producing and maintaining the systems and technological aspects of the school IT development plan, and preparing development proposals.**
- **Participating in the development, planning and implementation of advanced communication systems for use both within the school and between school and home (including the use of internet-based technologies).**
- **Ensuring the IT team develop, document, review, and improve operational processes and procedures that cover all areas of the team’s responsibilities and that they are fit for purpose.**
- **Recruiting and managing IT staff.**
- **Managing a departmental budget.**
- **Developing and managing hardware and software.**
- **Supporting the training of staff in IT skills.**

**Qualifications**:

- **Educated to degree level and with appropriate IT qualifications.**
- **5 -6 Years in IT Support, preferably in Schools.**
- **Excellent English oral and written communication skills.**
