This position is located in the United Nations in Doha, within the Information Centres Service (ICS), Strategic Communications Division, Department of Global Communications. The United Nations Information Center for the Gulf Countries is the principal source of information about the United Nations system in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and the State of Qatar. The Information Centre is responsible for promoting public understanding and support for the aims and activities of the United Nations by disseminating UN information materials to a local audience in Arabic and English; engaging local and regional partners; and, overall, bringing the United Nations closer to the people it serves. The incumbent is under the direct supervision of the Head of Office.

Internship is for three months with an opportunity for extension, pending on the needs of the department.

The internship is UNPAID and full-time.

Interns work under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.

**Responsibilities**:
Responsibilities will depend on the individual's background, the intern's assigned office as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

- Support in content creation for the UNIC's online platforms, including social media accounts.
- Support in monitoring and moderating the UNIC's online platforms, including social media and in implementing social media campaigns.
- Support in the design, production and dissemination of information material.
- Support in organization of events and meetings.

Education

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Information Centre, the following conditions must be met:

- Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent);
c. Have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent
- Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter;
- Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Work Experience

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for this internship. Fluency in Arabic is required for this Internship.
