Bike Mechanic

A Bike Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing bicycles to ensure they are safe and in optimal working condition. This includes diagnosing mechanical issues, replacing worn-out parts, adjusting components, and providing general maintenance for customers. Bike mechanics need a strong knowledge of bicycle components and the ability to perform various repairs efficiently.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Bike Maintenance**: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, and tuning bicycles to ensure smooth operation.
- **Repairs**: Diagnose and repair various mechanical issues including problems with gears, brakes, chains, tires, and suspensions.
- **Customer Service**: Interact with customers to understand their bike repair needs and offer advice on maintenance, parts, and upgrades.
- **Parts Replacement**: Install new components and parts, such as tires, brake pads, cables, and handlebars, ensuring proper fitting and functionality.
- **Wheel Truing**: True wheels and adjust spokes to maintain correct alignment and prevent wobbling.
- **Safety Checks**: Conduct thorough safety inspections of bicycles to ensure they meet safety standards and are ride-ready.
- **Inventory Management**: Keep track of parts inventory and order new components as necessary to ensure availability of commonly used items.
- **Record Keeping**: Document services performed on each bike and maintain accurate records for customers and workshop reports.
- **Upgrades & Customization**: Assist customers with custom builds or upgrades, offering expertise on parts compatibility and performance improvements.
- **Troubleshooting**: Quickly and efficiently identify the source of mechanical problems and provide timely solutions.
- **Tool Maintenance**: Ensure all workshop tools and equipment are in good condition and properly maintained.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- **Experience**: Previous experience as a bike mechanic or in a related field is preferred.
- **Technical Knowledge**: In-depth understanding of various bicycle types (mountain bikes, road bikes, hybrids, etc.), components, and mechanical systems (gearing, braking systems, suspensions, etc.).
- **Problem Solving**: Strong diagnostic skills to quickly identify issues and develop solutions.
- **Customer Service**: Ability to communicate effectively with customers and offer advice on repairs and bike maintenance.
- **Physical Dexterity**: Ability to work with hand tools and precision instruments, and lift or handle bicycles.
- **Attention to Detail**: Ensuring all repairs are completed correctly and thoroughly, with no issues overlooked.
- **Organizational Skills**: Manage workload efficiently, prioritize tasks, and keep a clean and organized workspace.
- **Valid QID and NOC**: Mandatory for the role.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Certification or training in bicycle mechanics or a related field (e.g., Barnett Bicycle Institute, UBI, or similar programs).
- Experience with custom bike builds or advanced repairs.
- Knowledge of the latest trends and technologies in cycling, such as e-bikes or advanced suspension systems.

**Working Conditions**:

- Work will be performed in a workshop or bike shop environment.
- Must be able to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects such as bicycles and parts.
- Exposure to bike tools, lubricants, and cleaning chemicals.
- **Duty Hours**: 8 hours per day.
- **Accommodation and Transportation**: Provided by the company.
- **Location Requirements**: A valid QID and NOC are mandatory for the role.
- Typical working hours are Monday through Friday, but weekend hours or overtime may be required, especially during busy seasons.

Pay: QAR1,600.00 per month
