Physiotherapy Assistants

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES**:
**Duties**:

- To demonstrate capability in Physiotherapy Assistant skills
- To follow instructions of the Physiotherapist to treat patients following a designated treatment plan utilizing basic physiotherapy technique such as assisting a patient to walk with an appropriate aid as required.
- To assist the Physiotherapist with individual and group treatments/exercise.
- To be able to recognize change in the condition of a patient with guidance from Physiotherapists and to watch the patient response to any treatment undertaken.
- To monitor the reaction of patients to specific physiotherapy techniques undertaken.
- To manage clinical risk within own caseload including observing patients in all situations applicable to physiotherapy, ensuring safety and security constantly.
- To comply continuously with the requirements of the Health and Safety Regulations and to take responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of others in the working environment.
- To demonstrate physical ability to carry out physiotherapy interventions including therapeutic handling and exercise programs.
- To demonstrate dexterity and co-ordination for physiotherapy treatment of patients.
- To be able to cope with occasional, potentially stressful, upsetting or emotional situations in an empathetic manner.
- Maintain a proficient standard of ethical and professional behavior when treating and dealing with athletes / patients

**Necessary knowledge and Experience to be able to do the job**:
5-7 years of clinical experience of which a minimum of 2-3 year should be in a similar position / responsibility, preferably in a similar Industry

**Skills and Abilities**:

- Ability to multi-task and to work with frequent interruptions.
- Meticulous and pays attention to detail.
- Ability to establish good working relationships and to work within a team.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Sports physiotherapy background would be advantageous.

**Education and Certification requirements**:

- Diploma degree in Physiotherapy Assistant or a related training program or any equivalent course or certificate

**Job specific technical Skills**
- Ability to work under the supervision of a Senior Physiotherapist.
- Personal insight and reflection skills and is aware of own strengths and weaknesses.
- Ability to establish good working relationships and to work within a team.
- Evidence of modifying a service or bringing about change through suggestions for improvement.
- Good Communicator.
- Computer skills.
- English Language (written and spoken).
